Ray Lewis: Tuck rule 'only reason we know who Tom Brady is'

Lewis says tuck rule 'only reason we know' Tom Brady
Former Ravens linebacker and current ESPN analyst said on Stephen A. Smith's radio show Tuesday that Patriots QB Tom Brady is only known because of the infamous tuck rule.

ESPN NFL analyst Ray Lewis appeared on Stephen A. Smith's radio show on Wednesday to talk about the upcoming conference championship games, and when talk turned to the New England Patriots, Lewis made an outlandish claim.
"The only reason we know who Tom Brady is, because of a tuck rule! There’s no such thing as a tuck rule! If the ball is in your hand, and I knock it out your hand, whether it’s going backwards, forwards, lateral, sideways, however it’s coming out, that’s a freaking fumble! But guess what we created? We created a freaking tuck rule!"

Patriots were lucky the MIC was gearing everyone for a protracted war, so the pats were the feel good hit of the year.

thats the other problem with the phony Montana/Brady comparisons. Joe arrived with The Catch, a top 3 moment in Nfl history, Brady was catapulted by a call that will live in infamy.

And the only reason Ray Lewis isn't doing a life bid is because of Steve Bisciotti, tbh..

Its like the Lakers 2002 playoff riggin. No intelligent basketball people recognize their 2002 le.
Likewise with the Tucks Medicated Pats that year.
    Throw in the cheatin cameras.....

Can't believe that re ed final call by Ravens and pussy attempt to break up the INT by Torrey Smith.
Indy needs to ream these fakes out of the playoffs.

That rule was horrible. But what an odd slip up by Ray. I bet even Suggs think Lewis overreacted.

Was it even a rule back then? I never heard of it before that game. It seems like the refs/NFL just made it up during that game to screw the Raiders. I've been watching the NFL since 1984 and never saw a tuck rule call until that game.

Frustration about a rule that doesn't even exist anymore.

the tuck rule was always in the rule book. it shouldn't have applied to the play imo. Brady did bring his arm forward and then tuck the ball back to his body. it is my contention that he had completed this act of the tuck before the ball came free.

2 hands on the ball, the tuck was already done. unless its like a video game where you have a few seconds of invincibility after spawning in... and QB's have a few moments where fumbling is impossible after a pump fake

This was, what, 13 years ago? I get why Raiders fans would still be salty but I don't see why anyone else still harps on that play, least of all Ray Lewis. Why did he even bring it up?

Isn't the Aaron Hernandez trial underway? Pats fans should be the last to talk about murder, tbh.
