Kawhi Leonard never realized just how important he was to the Spurs success. Popovich was begging him to be more aggressive but Kawhi just kept deferring. So Popovich did the unthinkable. He faked a Kawhi injury so the team would go on a losing streak. To further help his point he repeatedly had the team give away games so that Kawhi could see that he was the difference between a win and a loss.

Finally Popovich felt Kawhi had seen enough and decided to heal him with the stroke of a pen. Now a new version of Kawhi has come forth to dominate the NBA like no one has seen since the likes of Jordan.

I think it's more true than not. They were just saying he can't grip a ball. He came out like a mad man. Duncans probably going out next, to rest.

I said the same thing. You can search through my posts. Some days they say he needed surgery and acted as if his hand was falling off. I never believed that bull

Whether true or not, I'm sure Pop used the situation to boost his ego much like he did with OKC game he sat him out to let him see how much the team needed him to compete against the tougher teams.

Is this thread really serious? lol. The Spurs faking a Kawhi injury and going on a losing streak is counter-intuitive considering Kawhi is going to demand a handsome hefty sum by the end of this season. IF (and that's a big if) the Spurs are doing this in reality, they are shooting themselves in the foot by exposing their team even more and just furthering the proof other teams need to throw a larger contract at Kawhi to pry him away from the Spurs.

They're going to max him out. Teams can't offer more than the max.

Each team's max contract can vary in years and salary... max doesn't mean it's a set amount...

Not true. Max salary is determined by years in the NBA. Teams can resign their own FAs for one extra year and with greater annual raises, but Kawhi and every other first round pick from the draft class of 2011 will have the exact same maximum salaries.

If that's the case, then Spurs really don't have a choice but to give him the max then. I mean if Gordon Hayward got a max, and Tristan freaking Thompson declined 11 mil a year or something, Kawhi should more than deserve it.
