why are we only hearing about the patriots balls being deflated though?
Don't home teams provide the footballs for both teams? If not it could be that the Colts inflate theirs to a higher pressure (there is an acceptable range). Say the Patriots inflate theirs to the lower end of the range and the Colts to the highest...once the temperature/rain effects kick in the Patriots could fall unde the acceptable range but not the Colts.

Besides in the event that the weather isn't responsible the real question should be why did they pass the pre-game inspection?

both teams provide balls. 11 of the 12 provided by the pats were found to be 2 PSI lower than allowed. we haven't heard anything about the colts balls

Starting to doubt the accuracy of the '2 pounds' too. Did a quick google search and plenty of outlets are referring to it as lbs and claiming that refs were weighing footballs during the game to check them.

My guess is they probably were below regulation but the actual amount varies for each ball, and more than likely 2 psi is just the highest amount.

I'm with FkLA. I think the balls were inflated to the lower end of the 'acceptable' spectrum and that when they were exposed to the cold weather they fell just below. Maybe one of the balls was kept close to a heat source or something on the sideline and never exposed to the cold like the others. I just don't see how underinflating all the balls except for one would be any sort of advantage. Something about this just doesn't feel right.

you're a student. if you cheat on a test and get a D, would you still be subject to discipline for cheating? even though the cheating didn't help your grade?
    Holy .

We really have to go this far with an analogy to get people to understand...

The NFL has already had enough controversy with Ray Rice, head injuries, etc...
So now the NFL releases this information? Really?
Before the SB to further taint their inept fairness issues...

Think for 1 second why in the they would do this? Why bring this up?

Its pretty clear the NFL is taking this seriously. They are in essence calling attention to themselves and opened up a can of worms for an entertainment industry already under serious questioning.

And I am glad the Patriots are in the SB. They are fun to watch. Mainly because they are so damn good.

Pretty sure you're missing the boat here.
No, I get it. People love to hate the Patriots, so they look for anything to accuse them of cheating...and yes everyone and their mothers remember "spy-gate" which happened in week 2 of the same year they went 18-0 and eventually lost to the Giants in the Superbowl. The reality of it is they are a great football team that wins year in and year out....besides they were playing the ty and overrated Luck and the colts...no need to cheat aganist that fraud of a team

i don't remember saying it's a conspiracy, people will create stories from anything if it creates attention, but making a big fuss about stuff every team does is funny and sad tbh. I mean, in a league infested with PED players the cheating is "deflating balls".. i mean honestly

So they can notice a ball being underinflated by 2 ounces but they can't find a casino elevator tape?
Truth bomb ... but one doesnt excuse other. Refs should have caught this but Pats should have conformed to the rules ...

It'd be awesome if that got Goodell came out looking even more corrupt after this. Maybe then we could get a real commissioner who will stop making the NFL into a pussy sport, tbh.

It took a Colts player (D'Qwell Jackson) to do the NFL's job for them
IDK what the it is ... but I agree with CN (again) ...
You are right for calling out goodell and the pussification of the NFL ...
But keep in mind League is facing multiple lawsuits and concerns regarding player safety. He is just a lackey for the owners who are worried (silly because fans aint going anywhere) about losing revenue. every one of our owners have put Goodell in the "fall guy" position a la Enron (see Jim Carrey's role in Fun with and Jane)
My boy Jerrah, Kraft etc. are all in co-hoots and back him. Kraft just employs a coach that would do ANYTHING for an advantage.

GREEN BAY, Wis. --*Aaron Rodgers*says NFL referees take air out of footballs to be used in games, and he doesn't think it should happen.

    http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=12201369
So if a ball is over inflated, the refs take the air out.

My conspiracy theory is that the ref was the one that took the air out of the Pats balls because he had a buck or two on the game.

No ass talking purely factual conspiracy talk

As I wrote in Tuesday’s Patriots mailbag, “There are specific rules that prohibit altering the ball after they have been checked by the officials 2 hours, 15 minutes before game time. If the Patriots (or any team, for that matter) are knowingly breaking those rules outside of the normal scope of what is accepted (e.g. New York Times story on Eli Manning; Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers acknowledging how he likes his footballs to feel), there is a price to pay.”

    http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/b...ots&id=4766756

Time to find a new excuse, Pats fans... you're talking out of your asses.
