Probably will be impossible to get damning evidence without either video footage of somebody caught in the act, or a current or former employee going Mangini on them.
    pretty much.

I don't see any way they can punish the Pats

Well at least not severely. I mean the league gives them 12 balls. One would think the league had them up to spec and by half time 11 of 12 are 16% below spec.

But unless there is solid evidence (or someone confesses, doubt that) no major punishment will be doled out.

Exactly, it's not like they'd go into his home and tap his phone.

You're assuming they did not, or possibly that they have not in other games. This isn't exactly something you experiment with in an AFC Championship game, or playoff game in general.

The big deal is that the league wants all teams to abide by certain guidelines that way no one gets a compe ive advantage. No matter how small you may perceive it to be.
That's exactly my point... If they did it against Colts there is no reason to assume they did not do it during RS and against Ravens. I understand checking the football weight is a normal procedure, why this procedure never showed anything irregular... does not make a lot of sense for me

I understand league wants all teams respect certain guidelines and a compe ive advantage is a compe ive advantage even very small... now for me reaction is not proportional. It seems it's the watergate or something... I don't see this deflating balls making such a difference in the long run... the % is not that significant

Until they definitively say the Patriots are responsible and knowingly broke the rules, you're all talking out your asses. That's it and that's all.
"I was very shocked to hear it, so I almost laughed it off thinking that was more sour grapes than anything," he said. "And it ends up being a very serious thing when you start learning the things that were ... just the integrity of the game."

Tom is now taking this seriously.
Ya see he kinda gets it, that balls just don't deflate magically, btw it is reported by some its 12 out of 12.
Now its total denial mode. And most likely remains that way. But of course it was no big deal as these things just sorta happen. Just a random occurrence. So Mr. Talking out of his ass says nothing to see here.
    This is entertaining.

It's more about the breaking of the rule, as opposed to the perception of the significance of the rule. It's in place for a reason, and everyone has to abide by it. Otherwise a compe ive advantage occurs, no matter how small it is perceived to be. It is an advantage nonetheless. But I get where you're coming from.

It will be almost impossible to prove anything.
Unless the NFL has got a guy that has it all and is just allowing various Patriots to go before the public and fry themselves.
And that, I would not put that past the NFL.

Just saw some clips from that Brady presser.... holy , he is a terrible liar. That ISIS "joke" was especially uncomfortable.

His legacy just went down in flames, tbh. This is Rafael Palmeiro's "I have never used steroids, period" all over again.

Maybe Brady should "study the rulebook."

Or maybe because the one guy who accounts for almost all their fumbles went on IR pretty early in the season.
Brady begged for the rule about game balls to be changed in 2006. Since then, the Patriots have been top 5 in least team fumbles per game in all but one season. You look at guys like BenJarvus Green-Ellis who pretty much never fumbled in a Patriots uniform, then somehow became a fumble machine with the Bengals, and it doesn't add up. Statistically, the Patriots' avoidance of fumbles from 2010-present is so close to impossible that it's su ious:

In other words, you're talking out of your ass.

Again, food for thought--New England only lost like 1 or 2 fumbles throughout the whole season. One position that will ultimately benefit from underinflated footballs is the RB position. This will probably not amount to anything but you can't ignore the willingness of the Patriots to obtain any additional aid and blur the line of cheating has made since Belicheck came on board.
patriots have been one of the best teams at not turning it over pretty much throughout Belichick's reign. if you watch some of the videos on ESPN with Bettis or Brunell, they're talking about how lower pressure gives the QB more grip and velocity, makes it harder to fumble etc...Supposedly it's worse for the long ball but most of NE's passing is built on the dink and dunk.

I obviously always felt they've been cheating the whole time, Belichick does anything for an advantage and can lie with the best of them. Still, Goodell is Kraft's butt buddy and the main reason he got the gig, so I doubt we'll see anything harsh unless the other owners want it done. We'll see.

I just wonder how long have they been doing it and how the refs never noticed it.

I also saw some of the Brady presser and it's weird but I felt bad for the guy, and I might be the biggest Brady hater on here . While I like seeing Brady get exposed and not be so overrated, I still feel bad for anyone getting dogpiled on or thrown under the bus, especially when I still believe Belichick is behind it.

Still, I'll laugh so hard off Goodell "discovers" a ballboy who admits to deflating the balls because he overheard that's how Brady likes them.

I don't see how any punishment at all gets doled out until evidence is found.

like I said earlier, for all we know, a ref had money on the Pats and did the deflating himself.

Brady was 9-9 in the 2nd half when the balls were inflated.
