    If a player died, would his contract be taken off the books?
    What if it was later discovered that the team had him killed? Would they then still count that against the cap?

    Serious answer, it would be treated like a career-ending injury. Would get taken off the books, and if he wasn't exempted, insurance would pay for 80 percent of the contract after the first year.
