Lupe fell off years ago, he ing sucks now. It's sad, because prime Lupe had one of the best flows in hip-hop.
That's because literally every musician ever has "borrowed" or been inspired by music before it, and putting music into white and black categories and saying they should be separate is part of the problem. And zeppelin gets all the time for borrowing a little too heavily in a few of their songs.
Sure musicians both black and white have "borrowed" or been heavily influenced by another artist. Its not like I was trying to knock anyone for doing it. Thats how music evolves. The great musicians can turn a borrowed idea into some completely different & original, Hendrix was a massive Dylan fan and also a big Elmore James and Curtis Mayfield fan. He borrowed ideas and come up with something completely different.
I like both Zeppelin and Clapton but Zeppelin ,specifically has "borrowed" for example The Lemon Song used parts Howling Wolf's Killing Floor. He actually sued them and afterwards he was given credit and paid. I was originally talking about Elvis' perception with black people. Zeppelin borrowed ideas and expanded apon them and made them even better (i.e Babe I'm Gonna Leave ou& In My Time of Dying)
Truth bomb. People we marching for his label to drop Lazers and it had like 4 nice tracks. Food and Liquor Part II best song was Round my Way (the lead single).
His old stuff great
Food and Liquor was great, that's it. Lupe is fast becoming one of the most overrated rappers in the game
The Cool had its moments and his mixtapes were dope. Just hasn't been consistently good in years.
Fire Squad is so ing awesome. J. Cole puts the FIRE in Fire Squad. At first I was kinda indifferent to it but I listened closely to it and god damn this is my favorite song in the album now.

J. Cole drops the hammer in December.
Lupe Fiasco rediscovers his old form in January.
I'm excited for what's in store for February!
Don't forget young Joey Bada$$ just dropped. Still Jan, might be a good year.
Kanye and Jay Electronica have to drop for it to be a great year in hip hop

Whew
Still haven't listened to Lupe or Joey's album. Coles album was pretty good but the replay value is lacking. Nothing about the album makes me want to go back and listen to it again. OTOH Born Sinner still gets thrown in rotation from time to time.
Looking forward to Big Seans album and Drake's mixtape.
