Was looking through some stats last night about Danny Green and it got me thinking, Danny is actually a top SG in the west IMO.

    Top SF's in the west..

    Davis
    Aldridge
    Blake
    Dirk
    Zbo
Draymond ( Mostly plays the PF)

    Top C
    Boggie
    Gasol
    Bogut
    Tim
    Howard
    Joradan
    Asik
    Lopez

    Top SG

    Harden
    Thompson
    Ellis
    Bledsoe
    Wes Mathews/Danny Green
    Hayward
    Crawford/Manu

    Top PG's

    Curry
    Westbrook
    Lillard
    Conley

Wiggins has a pretty solid claim over Parsons and Gay, at least right now. Dude has been beasting lately and is a much better defender than anyone outside of Kawhi and Ariza on that SF list.

Pretty good rankings otherwise, though your hate of Dwight is pretty clear.

IMO DG's defense alone makes him a very good player for many teams. Unfortunately he needs Pop. :-)

It's amazing that the Griz have dropped Tony Allen out of the rotation. I haven't seen much of their games recently to know why, other than the obvious trade, but he's a stellar defender still and they don't play him.

I like Green but he's big time overrated right now, I don't even think he's been all that great defensively this season.

I'd take Wes Matthews over Green, his versatility on offence more than makes up for his very slightly worse 3 point shooting and defence. His ability to post up is very valuable and he's a much better ball handler and passer.

Pretty cool that if it wasn't for Splitter's injuries we'd have 4/5ths of our starting line-up in those rankings.

Our Spurs are truly the definition of TEAM.

Have you been watching the games? Green has been an animal on defense. He might be the best transitional player in the league on defense.

In 46 games he already has 2.4 defensive win shares with a Dbox+- of 2.2, both on track to be career highs. He's a 3 point shooter who ALSO gives you 5 rpg and a combined 3 steals + blocks per game, also on pace for a career high. All this while usually guarding the other team's best guard and giving us 14.3 ppg on the other side of the court -- also a career high.

Not sure what's wrong between Pop and tiago...

We need a motivated Tiago but for some reason Pop is teaching him a "lesson"

Not sure what's wrong with Pop and Tiago's relationship tbh..he's too old to be giving "get over yourself" lessons..

Even with all the things Kawhi have done he's still getting "get over yourself" lessons...

We really need a motivated Tiago in the playoffs.

Off topic. Does anyone know if Direct TV supports FSSW in the hill country area of Texas?

He'll be fine imo. Pop knows we need his defense.

I've noticed he does it with Green too though. Wish Pop would give those type of lessons to players that really deserve it.

Not sure where you're getting the 14.3ppg from as DG is at 12.2 but I agree with you, he is a menace on defense and has really excelled in transition defense. Though he is a bit under his career 3PT% this season, hope he can get that back up. Dude has been clutch as though this season. If he could only add a reliable move off the dribble or work on his floater more, he'd be a lot more deadly

Also Bogut is not better than Tim overall imo. Constantly injured and unreliable. Monster on defense but nothing to write home about on O and doesn't pass like Duncan. I think the C position doesn't look weak, especially compared to the PF imho. lol @ Morris being a top 8 PF and calling the PF position stacked

imho you're also seriously underrating Hayward...he is probably right under Ellis imo. I was also gonna lol at Barnes but I assume you mean Harrison and not Matt

Yeah, I accidentally scrolled down to "per 36 minutes". Still a valuable metric but 14ppg did seem a bit high for him.

Matt Barnes has actually been a very good player for the Clips lately. Hard to believe but it's true.

I don't know much about the advanced metrics, but I'm always very dubious to put a lot of stock in to blocks and steals stats. Westbrook leads the league in steals but he gambles so much to get them. You're looking at per 36 numbers which is fine, but compare that to KJ McDaniels 3.2 combined blocks and steals, that doesn't mean he's a better defender.

I agree he is good in transition defense, but I've had a feeling this year that he hasn't been able to stay in front of his man as well as in previous years. Often he'll get blown by when closing out on a shooter.

I'm not saying he's a bad defender by any stretch, but people talk about him as if he's an All-Defense player and I don't think that's the case. He's a well above average defender but he's no Bowen/Kawhi.

In terms of defense, Green is to Leonard what Trenton Hassell was to Bruce Bowen tbh

That's why we combine it with watching the games. Green doesn't gamble a lot. I'd agree he's closing out a bit too hard, but I think that's a result of Pop not wanting to give 3s to the other team. But he is an absolute pest in passing lanes and excels when the other team starts to break down on offense or is trying to force the issue. Both Green and Kawhi are absolute thieves when it comes to stealing desperate passes.

Holiday over TP9 ?? Also Thompson is playing way over his head at the moment he will regress to the mean. He's shown to not show up in the playoffs anyway

Re > Crawful. Neither of them are great on defense by any means, but at least Re isn't a chucker who kills any semblance of ball movement whenever he checks into the game.
