Only morons would say Cubes would take Rondo over Ellis.

Ellis is literally one of few guys that no one can shut down guarding him 1-on-1. He has impressed me quite a bit, as I was skeptical of their initial pick-up of him, but after seeing nearly every game he has played in as a Maverick, I have yet to see someone accomplish that, or even find a way to consistently stop him from getting off shots he is very comfortable with and can make with consistency. Now when you send timely doubles at him, he can struggle a bit more because of his size, but overall, for his size, he is as good of an offensive player as anyone else in the league. Add to it, he is highly clutch, doesn't get rattled mentally, and never gives up no matter what the situation is. He's a lot better than I had imagined him being (although I'm sure having Carlisle and Dirk helped him immensely), and really is one of the more underrated players in the league, even despite his inconsistent defense.

I second all of this, but I would give Rc the primary credit. Dont get me wrong Dirk like David did for Duncan has ceded the clutch role to Ellis. I really like what RC has done with Montae and I think in most tangible ways he is superior to Rondo. IF Mavs let him go I would love him in La but we don't have a good coach to maximize his talent. I dont watch every Mav game here in DFW ... but I have seen him a bunch and he still almost prime Parker quick but has become a better ball player.

What's your level of concern that the Lakers will whiff on their primary FA targets this summer and then offer Rondo something like 4yrs/60M?

Parsons is the key though. He is the glue of the team.
I wouldn't say he's exactly the glue, but you're right he is the x-factor and needs a bigger role (from what I saw yesterday).

Its really not even a question. Ellis plays some phenomenal ball...Rondo is the other extreme. The two aren't even worth mentioning in the same sentence right now.

    Prove it.

What makes Rondo so indispensable for this team?

Yeah, I can't believe Dallas ed with the team they had. I thought getting Tyson would have sated their lust for new players. Rondo was a sidegrade at best.

Yep I'm still pissed about it. It's right up there with the Walker trade.

Trade Rondo to LA for Nash and some picks imho. Nash used to be a fan favorite in Dallas and he's still ringless, so maybe he still wants to ball a bit here in an attempt to get a ring before retiring, and Lakers' picks are reasonably valuable since they're likely tied to mediocrity for many years to come.
