Mark Jackson on the Bulls Suns telecast just said "DeAndre Jordan deserves Allstar spot over Timmy!!!" Bwahahaaha
I'm not sure why everyone thinks Tim would rather "rest" then play in what's likely his last All-Star game. He has said multiple times that he's cherishing every basketball experience because he knows they're almost gone, and this will be no different.
Also, he's going to play like 8 minutes, show up at some events... it's not like its a "taxing" schedule. He can rest plenty. And he IS a student of the game. He gets what these records mean, and in his own words, is very honored with every historical achievement he gets.

Are you from OKC?
It's been mentioned elsewhere, but Tim's first AS game was also in Madison Square Garden. The box score from that game:

Duncan GO! He almost won ASG MvP in 2005. Only the West lost to the East.
This time making an appearance is fine w/ me.
Lillard snubs ASG Skills Challenge..will not defend his crown after All-star reserve snub.
CP3 might win this time after 4 (4-0) tries![]()
Most people here act as if there was no difference between an All-Star selection and the All-Star Game in itself.
The first one means quite a lot whereas the second one has become a huge joke for mainstream teenagers
It's a fan-voted game where a scrub averaging 13 ppg(2014 Kobe) can be awarded a spot. All-star selections SHOULD be treated like a joke. Unfortunately, the media uses the number of all-star selections quite often when describing players. That's why there's such a vested interest in seeing your favorite player make it. Personally, I think they're meaningless.
Out of the fan votes, how many completely ridiculous AS selections can you recall? Maybe 10 maximum? So no, a few undeserved AS Selections from injured/underperforming superstars (Yao Ming, Iverson, Bryant) does not make it meaningless or irrelevant.
Nice to hear Tim Duncan declaring " he's feeling better, health wise" and the team's motivation to play better to win it all. that is what I wanted to hear when he was interviewed by Steve Smith ..
He might start...
.
Whoa that's GOOD NEWS !
