the casual trolling was fine, but he got me worried this season. I know it sounds cliché, but we need all the guns we can get, Tony included. If he's not up to par, our margin of error becomes smaller and smaller...

I was actually watching Games 3 and 4 of the Finals a couple days ago, and even though it was against Mario Chalmers, he looked a whole lot better than he does nowadays. Not MVParker like, but still considerably better. He attacked the paint, had that floater going... current Tony is really unrecognizable...

I even made a tony appreciation thread but he is done. He'll probably have a good bounce back game vs some ty team and all the parker s will come out in full force only to hide after more miserable performances by tony.
In 2013 I remember tony would get benched and the offense would slow down and even stagnant at times. We were mediocre at times on offense but the spurs have so many offensive weapons now. This team evolves and tony isn't evolving with it.

I don't know what the FO can do but we need to cut our loses. I'm sure waiving josh smith hurt at first. I'm not saying to waive him but we need that cap space to build around kawhi in the future.
Okay that can happen after this year or next year then, this is their last run IMO with this team and they know it. This is the last year they are all together IMO (Depends on what happens in the playoffs) so they will let that play out and then try to go from there and build for the future. Tim is here next year I believe but Manu? Need to re-sign Kawhi and Green and then try to get another piece for the future. Parkers contract will be hard to move at this point.

as ive been saying all year, the scariest part of Parker's decline isn't the outcome of this season... it's that his 3 year max extension hasn't even kicked in yet

Pop "so tony, you're old and ur speed is declining , you got a lot of mileage, and you could barely make it to the finish line 2 years in a row and you play lots of international ball, how much do you want"

    Tony "3 year max extension"

    Pop"ok then, sign right here"

The missed layups are frustrating, tbh... that used to be his bread and butter...
this. in the first half he was actually getting to the rim nearly at will. when the first couple didn't drop, i still saw it positively, as he was attacking better than I'd seen for the past few months... but then he kept missing them. strange

Oh, don't flatter yourself Nono. I don't visit the forum to earn brownie points making small talk with the smalltown yokels. If people don't share my views or opinions, I could really care less. If you don't like what I have to say, nobody's sticking a gun to your head forcing you to reply. As for those who think Parker is the root of all evils in San Antonio, They need a bitter taste of reality. Last I checked, Parker wasn't guarding Blake Griffin or getting clowned on the boards by DeAndre Jordan. The team has issues that run deeper than Parker but, if you want to run with the wolves and use Parker as the scapegoat. you have at it. I won't argue with you!

cosigned, i was explaining that to my brother, who is a slightly more casual spursfan than i am. i was trying to explain the dark clouds hanging over the team with that contract and the sandwich Parker has been offering up lately.

well, luckily his max deal equated to about 13-15 mil per year, which is at least manageable (unlike that got making 25 mil ) and the cap is expected to shoot up. but still, its gna be really ugly in 2-3 years

We didn't lose because of him entirely but a very good part goes to him. 30 mins and 5 points for the best offensive weapon and the best defender gets 24 points. Might I add if he aint scoring he pretty much isnt doing any other .
The whole team knows they need to pick up the slack when tony plays and he pretty much deflates their temperament. Have you ever worked with a cancer? Everyone knows your takes are bad and you should feel bad.

He scored 5 but accounted for 16+ more via assists and could have easily had double digits had his teammates been able to knockdown open shots. He wasn't nearly the Albatross he's being made out to be. His defense has been in a downward spiral for three years but, that hasn't stopped the Spurs from winning. They won a championship despite Tony's supposedly poor Finals performance. It isn't just Parker that's the problem. One of the reasons the Spurs were so successful last year was because they didn't have to rely on one player to carry the load.

i don't mind if the Spurs tank a season post TD, let Parker heroball away to his heart's content. But if he gets worse, how much will that contract restrict the team if they aren't able to unload it? what would be the ceiling?

i would definitely mind tanking. for the past 15 years, the spurs consistency has been the yin to my raiders yang

True, but I'll take anything for Parker outside of Derrick Rose, tbh..as long as he's no longer wearing a Spurs jersey..
