To be fair to Elway, those Broncos weren't as good as the NFC powerhouses they lost to. But he was awful in those games. Ranking him over Montana however is silly.

No one was comparing Brady to Luck, Wilson, or any of the QBs he faced to get to his Super Bowl victories, the way you did with him and Eli. The opposing QB that he faces has nothing to do with what he does. His job is to score as many points as possible against the opposing defense. Are you seriously this re ed?
That does not prove that Montana would have 100% not lost to Eli ever, especially considering he lost to some mediocre QBs (all of whom are arguably worse than Eli) in the playoffs such as Wade Wilson, Phil Simms, and Jeff Hostetler.
Still haven't really given any good, indisputable proof that Montana is flat out better than Brady. Do you have any? Other than personal feelings that are quite obviously involved?
Moving goal posts now I see. Avante school of debating
- Superior numbers
- Superior record
- Superior opponents (Anderson, Marino, Elway & Boomer)
What's left?
Sidenote: my favorite QB is Steve Young

That first Super Bowl, the 49ers had a 20-0 halftime lead and had to hold on for a 26-21 win. Montana had 150+ yards passing.
The Bungles had four turnovers and still almost pulled it out.
The second Super Bowl, Montana was outstanding, getting the ball to the running backs, controlling the clock, keeping the dolphin D on the field.
The third, Rice went nuts.
The fourth, Montana cemented his GOAT status.
But people act like Montana was destroying people left and right in all four Super Bowls and in every playoff run, when it was really two arguably 3 that he was phenomenal.

Brady's superior opponent was the Seattle D......not Russ.
Montana had a hall of fame receiver in all his Superbowl wins
Actually he was stellar in one of them, bad in two.
But , those three teams probably had no business being there to begin with. He dragged them there on his shoulders.
Its true. Those Browns teams he beat were much better overall and they would have provided more compe ion for the NFC powerhouses.
They were coached by Marty Chokenheimer. Even if they hadn't gagged to Denver, they'd have just choked in the Super Bowl anyway.
Geez forgot about that. This guy was a choker everywhere he went. Those Browns teams were really good with really good defenses and they always gagged against Elway.
Lol the term "choke" has changed a lot.
people in this century that look back realize just how clutch Elway really was in playoff games. Not just "the Drive" but I still remember the way he put a knife straight through Warren Moon's heart with an incredible 4th quarter comeback drive ftw.
I remember the game against the Oilers. Elway kept converting on 3rd and 4th downs on the last drive. Really cemented his reputation as a 4th quarter QB.
I remember the Monday Night Game against the Chiefs when he and Montana exchanged last minute drives. One of the best regular season games to remember.
I wouldn't say they were much better than Denver, but I do think they matched up a little bit better with the NFC teams than the Broncos did.
You're right. The 86 and 89 Broncos were better according to Pro Football Reference, but the 87 Browns were clearly the best in the AFC that season. The only reason they didn't have homefield is the Broncos finished half a game better due to a tie.

How?
Incorrect. Brady > Montana in yards, TD, completion %, QB rating, TD%, INT%, Sack%, AV rating, and more.
Incorrect.
Regular Season
Brady - 160-47
Montana - 117-47
Post season
Brady - 21-8
Montana - 16-7
Inconclusive and perhaps even blatantly incorrect. (Roethlisberger, Manning, Rivers, Rodgers, Romo, McNabb, Warner)
Some evidence that Montana is clearly superior to Brady would be nice.
Neat.
You're moving goal posts again.
How does regular season statistics and WL records matter in this debate
Brady is rightfully viewed as one of the greatest (I had him Top 3 before) but unless he wins a 5th, losing twice to Eli is his undoing
Give me Montana, Marino, Elway, Kelly, Fouts, Theisman, Anderson, Boomer, Cunningham and Moon over those you listed
I disagree. I don't have to prove what my opinion is. I don't give a what anyone else thinks about my opinion. I say Montana is better. That's that.
congrats, you're a homer idiot![]()
Definitely not bitter at all.
The argument is really close either way, but using Brady losing two superbowls as an argument against him is ing re ed. Making the superbowl and losing is still better than not making it at all.
