It doesn't matter who we talk about, those listed above or the ones who came later. The best QB to ever play the position in my opinion........Joe Montana. An opinion based on watching all of them play many times. The only one I didn't see play...Otto Graham. But....the caliber of defenders back then, well.
Montana just knew how to run an offense, he was like a master dart thrower, key word...precision. While not an actual runner he was mobile. He had it all, the total package. Watching him play was like watching a concert pianist, he had you mesmerized.
Tom Brady the closest thing to Montana I've seen.
Here's where stats just don't work. Not unlike a boxer with a 20-8 record, not knowing he won his first 20 but has lost his last 8. Montana knew receivers and defenses unlike anyone else. He had....finese.
