ty year when a guy who doesn't play a lick of defense can win the MVP. Oh wait...
He's playing D this year so far. 102 DRtg, 4th in steals
He gets bailed out more than any other player in the league. His game is a ing joke.
whining aboutnot making the ASS game
Thats a ing joke![]()
A silky jumper is not getting bailed out.
Harden has even stopped flopping this season. Never liked his game but he's legit this year.
Hahaha, that moron misguided the defense and let Lillard hit the buzzard beater.
How is Parsons defense this year? Still bad looks like.
I'd take both Curry and Davis over Harden to be on my team, but statistically speaking, Harden certainly has a strong case.
Might be the toughest guy to guard in the league, even more so than LeBron or KD or Melo. It's almost impossible to avoid contact when he attacks the basket the way he drives and puts his body into defenders. The fact he can hit not only three pointers but step-back fade-away jumpers off the dribble keeps any defender off balanced. Bigger defenders aren't quick enough. Quicker guards aren't strong enough. He's as close to an impossible guard in the league right now.
That said, I'm not a big fan of his bully ball drives. And he looks like he belongs in the and-1 circuit when he puts on his dribbling thru the legs, crossover exhibitions every possession down. I find unnecessary dribbling annoying to watch, particularly on the NBA level. This isn't Rucker Park. So not a huge fan of his game, but he definitely has been impressive.
agree with ALL of this. It may not be appealing especially to purists but he is so effective. And I agree maybe only Lebron is a tougher cover because people forget Harden also has a post game. And only reason I say Lebron is tougher is because of his size. Harden has been amazing, and of course LOL OKC ...
You would have a point, except that he uses it to create space for a step back he knocks down over 50% of the time. Yes, if he didn't make it I would be ing at him like I did at Rafer Alston way back. Curry is good, but when you have a team with so many sharp shooters like GS is it ever possible to completely play off of the other defenders? He creates his own shot, but is also set up for Korver like plays by the team. Spot up and shoot wide open jumpers or floaters. I would take Durant and Davis over him, and probably not Lebron because his age seems to be catching up to him.

Harden is the new TMac. I have my doubts that team will even get out of the 1st round as composed.
That's bull , he's nothing like McGrady. What the have you been watching?
a superstar that carries the team in reg season but won't be able to carry his team deep in the playoffs. TMac had Yao chinadoll. Hardon has Coward chinadoll. lot of similarities imo.
Harden is the MVP this year unless LeBron continues going supernova, and even then they probably won't give him another MVP.
I agree he should. But my question is if they dont hold on to a top 3 post in the west will they snub him? When is the last time a MVP did not have a top 3 record? In fact if my memory is correct for most of the last 30 years they have had at least the top 3 record overall in the NBA. If that holds true Rox would have to overtake someone I think they sit 4th or 5th right now ...
I know the purpose of a crossover dribble. My problem with Harden isn't his use of the crossover. It's the egregious and unnecessary use of it. He will crossover 7-8+ times to set up a defender when 2-3 times will do. He'll crossover 30 feet from the rim. That's what I find annoying. Think back to guys like Iverson or Hardaway. I recall then crossing over and back. Maybe a three time cross then making their move. It almost seems like Harden thinks it's mandatory to cross at least half a dozen times before he even thinks about making a move towards the basket. It's and-1 basketball.
It's somewhat nitpicking. It's not to take away from how good he is as a player. It's just a pet peeved of mine. I don't find it entertaining. That's all.
It's a interesting point. I also despise And 1 hoops especially dudes that make a nice move but dont care about the "finish" havent seen those guys in a while but I seen times where after someone "Falls" or trips they dont even bother with the shot ...
Harden (and Kobe at times) enjoys the showboating and the oohs and ahhs those multiple crosses cause. I dont much like it either and it was funny watching him do it on the road last night. The worst offense the game was already over but I wont lie if he drove on me after all that crap I would have knocked him on his ass. Not to hurt him just to let him know I wont be a willing part of the "show".
When I was in hoops shape I used to love ripping dudes that did this and 1 crap. Yes at times I got "shook" or fell ...but I dont get why anyone should get embarrassed by being crossed or even dunked on. IF you actually play defense those are gonna happen if you play against good enough compe ion.
lol, don't get me wrong I actually follow that train of thought as well. If the excessive dribbling helps you get your shot and I see results, I won't complain. If you do that crap and miss (on a regular basis)...well I'll probably be just as pissed.
I think it's just probably something ingrained in Harden. Don't know if it's even something he's consciously making a decision about. It's definitely annoying at times, but you can't argue his effectiveness.
I do think it could back to bite him in the playoffs though. Teams play much more of a " your showboating we're shutting you down" defense in the post-season.
Ha I hate it worse when I'm playing ball and someone on my team is an and-1 dribbler. It happened this summer. I played in a basketball tournament and that guy was on my team. Thing was he was actually the best player on our team. And best player by far too. But every single ing time down, he sat near the top of the key and went dribble crazy for like 30 seconds even when his defender was playing off him or not even moving. I found it so stupid. He could take it to the rim every time without even one crossover. Maybe that's why I'm even more annoyed watching a pro like Harden do it.
He's only been doing it this year. To me it looks like it's to get him comfortable. Last year he bricked shot after shot taking the same shots without the crossovers.
This is why Harden has no chance of winning it. Also Curry's pretty much the flavor of the year. He's the golden boy of the NBA.
Curry has a stacked team and a teammate who can go for 50 any night. And a better coach. You are right as he is the golden boy.
