I think he will fill the wright void nicely but with better offense and will be great on the pick and roll with Harris/barea. The less we see of Charlie Villanueva and Greg smith the better.

It's a low risk move, but I'm not sure that it moves the Mavs likely ceiling of a second-round exit. The West is just so good this year that there's no shame in Dallas being only 4th or 5th in the conference. But Cuban sees this as a two year window with this group. Best-case scenario he gives the Mavs some good minutes in what's left of the regular season so they can keep Tyson and Dirk's minutes down before the playoffs, and maybe in a specific playoff series against a specific opponent, he helps them in some sort of matchup advantage.
This is the first Mavs team since 2001 where I don't think you can say Dirk is their best player. I've never seen him miss so many open jumpers as he has this year. Some nights he just doesn't have it. But he's still a very good player. I just don't know that they can win a le when Dirk is probably 70 percent of what he was 2006-2011.
Then again, isn't this Amare Stoudemire for 20 minutes a night replacing what Brandon Wright did for this team?
