really? are you guys mad? that pick is top 3 protected next year and likely to be #4 or so
Extremely mad. Still trying to digest it all, but it's insane.

Basically we gave up the pick, Plumlee, and Ennis for a possible Brandon Knight rental (restricted free agent).

Giving up that Laker pick is unforgivable. That pick is going to be top-6 or so in the next year, and they'll regret not keeping it.

Signing Thomas was a stupid move from the beginning. You already have 2 talented PGs who need to share the ball in Dragic and Bledsoe so you add another? A chucker to make things worse. Now they lose Dragic AND Thomas. SMH

Dragic+Bledsoe seemed to work. Adding an unnecessary cancer in Thomas ruined everything.

Not really. We sucked last year finished 6th and drafted 7th right now we in 4th if we are just as bad as last year with some improvements the pick is probably not even top 5. If it's out of top 5 only way it's a top pick if we get a top 3 pick and that is protected. That is why Suns wanted protection to be removed. Way lottery is if you out of top 5 pick is most likely 7th or worse, since one team almost always jumps. That is why Lakers need to get out of the 4 spot in to to third. If two team jumps them at 4 (not probable but possible) Lakers surrender pick.

that is, wishful thinking. The wish is that any of the picks the lakers used, are actually good, and honestly randle looks like an early bust and your team has a huge payroll and the least amount of talent in the league. kind of a terrific combination.

no it is not. I never said Lakers would be good or make playoffs I said that they would be better than last year where they finished 6th worst.
Let's bet Raven. I say Lakers finish better than 5th worse you say that is wishful thinking, Sig avvy or ELE choose the stakes.
Again two of the worst teams in Lakers history and we still haven't even secured our pick for sure.
How is Randle a bust he hasn't even played a full game lol was Blake a bust? I agree we don't know he will be a star which is why I want another high pick this one. I dont think he is a #1 on a legit contender.

You have me confused I don't want a quick rebuild but I do think we stay out of bottom 5 next year. We would be better off if you were right...
and you are also wrong we don't have the worst cap space Kobe only bloated contract left after this year

assuming you guys don't pick up the 9M option for jordan hill, you guys have 36 milion commited to 0 production. the trend has also been to get worse every year and kirby will be even worse next year (is that even possible?). Now that gogi is gone, i see the lakers signing a young talented loser to the max and fill with some other little s and still tanking. Now i'm not going to bet on this, i like to cheer for the lakers to be in the zone where they just miss the play offs tbh, that's the type of satisfaction i just can't get enough of tbh . Oh and yeah i'm a firm believer that randle was going to be a bust even before he blew the only thing he had going for him..

    Here's my thinking:

    1. Dragic & Thomas, both and individually, had become roid, and, worse yet, became publicly toxic, so leverage was mostly gone, especially in such a short window.

    2. Dragic to Miami for CAP space and 2 future 1sts that are effectively wild cards: got half-way decent comp for a player who was committed to walking in the offseason. Big picture it's ty, but for the time, and the fact they get a way in the future unprotected 1st isn't that bad depending on the bounce.

    3. Thomas for CAP and Cavs 1st: adequate compensation, which is puzzling considering Smart and the fact Thomas seems to be all about his stats. I liked Thomas. Good college player. Hit lots of tough shots. But if he wasn't a black hole, the ball seemed to at least stick with him as ball handler.

    4. Lakers 1st/Ennis/Plumlee for Knight and CAP space: two role player prospects and a Wildcard 1st from LA for a proven combo guard who is a great off-ball/spot-up shooter who's younger than Dragic and will be re-signed at roughly 2-3 million less per year than Dragic.

    5. Lakers suck. But they could easily end up with Dragic and Love or Gasol this offseason with a top-5 1st and a healthy Randle and Kobe, maybe that top-5 is like #14 or even worse. Or they could swing and miss and suck enough to get another top-3 in 2016 and then the unprotected in 2017 is dependent upon Randle/Top-5/Top-3 and 30 in CAP space. Truth, I think the two Miami 1sts are just as likely to end up lottery as the Lakers, and there's two of them and they come at a time down the road where the Suns will hopefully have more established players and plan in place.

    6. With Bledsoe and Knight, Suns now have two Kentucky players to recruit Cousins this offseason with the roughly 15 million in CAP space they have after clearing Thomas, etc. They could offer Morrii/Prospects/future 1sts and make a very compelling offer.

Not sure any of this is worth the risk, but considering the situation, it offers proven worth and some potential at upside, maybe better longterm upside at that.

Suns have had no clear direction or iden y in about 5 years...unless one considers collecting PG's, combo guards, tweeners and protected draft picks while winning 30 games/season an iden y.

I would agree with the part that the Lakers pick may not be as good as it seems, that is why Suns wanted protections removed. If they do suck it's tup 3 protected if they are just mediocre the pick sits in the 7-13 range. They will NOT get Gasol and i dont blame MArc they treated his brother ty. Lakers will have to overpay Jordan Butler or Knight to get them to leave or force their teams not to re-sign. Pretty sure Bulls would match on Butler Balmer will do his best to keep Deandre (who shouldnt get max but will). Dragic wont leave Riles. PHX is the only team that is a wildcard PHX may draft a PG and then sign Reggie Jackson this off-season ...
