Regardless of the interest by either the Spurs and/or McGee, is it save to assume, this thread will go 15+ pages?

Did I read that they had to or they actually would have been below the league minimum in salary cap?
    http://www.si.com/nba/2015/02/19/jav...s-trade-grades

"As far as this season goes, the Sixers have effectively spent money they would have spent anyway in order to pick up a first-round pick. Philadelphia’s cap sheet was so sparse that it was able to accommodate McGee’s contract without yet reaching the salary floor. Had he not been acquired, that same money would have been paid out among Philadelphia’s other players – who stand as the only real losers in this deal. "

Dude is 7 feet tall and only 27 years old. It's worth the risk imo.

I`d still cant believe Pop will put him in uniform, knowing that CoJo waited 4 years for his minutes, Ayers cant get and Daye also was ing bust. And yet Bonner is still on the team. McGee wont be a Spur

Sometimes you need to fight monkey with monkey tbh..
Could be useful vs the teams Spurs have struggled with who out monkey them like OKC/Houston
With the emergence of Baynes he isn't needed though but last year he might have found some use

The most important need is finding a starting point guard since the Spurs currently don't have a rotation one

If you go by the Shaq highlights yes, but at 7 feet tall, 27 years old, if the Spurs can't make him a smarter player, nobody will. Sign him and cut him if he pulls any silly plays. I think it's worth the risk, Pop will probably play him to start in garbage mins. There is potential there still.

What exactly has bonner brought to this team? Ooh he stands in the right place on D. Big deal when he gets scored on every time and can't grab a rebound in traffic. Ooh he spreads the floor. Sure, he can't hit a wide open three that matters in a playoff game.

You're telling me javale McGee couldn't block a few shots, or grab a couple of weak side boards?

In my lifetime, he might be #1 in the annual "Free Agent requests" threads of every fanbase, tbh, only next to Anthony Randolph..

Off the top of my head: McGee, Chris Wilcox, Hakim Warrick, Tyrus Thomas, JJ Hickson, Anthony Randolph(the king of false hope), Danilo Gallinari, Derrick Williams, Sean Williams, etc..

Most of these dudes are scrubs that can't be fixed by any organization..for every player that a team "fixes", there are 9 others that remain busts..

I don't care if he comes. He is a scrub. Nobody ever pick SA.

I'm just saying bonner is also a scrub who has been eating a roster spot for years.

^^Sure, but there's a reason Bonner is still with the Spurs, unfortunately..he's probably retiring with the team and will work in the front office..Pop probably let's him stay until he wants to call it quits..

I would ld still rather have Mcgee than Ayers on the bench.
When Mcgee fux up its funny/entertaining,
When Ayers fux up it straight up pisses me off.

Neither do Dallas or Houston. Texas-sized problem. Between Curry/Conley/Lillard/Paul/Westbrook, everyone else appears to be set.

You assume it's nobody picking SA, but perhaps it's SA picking nobody.

How many of these buyout types have ever played a significant role in a team winning a le? I can remember one = Diaw.

We're not getting him. But to all those who rightfully point out he's not that good...we still have Ayres and Bonner infesting the bench...you telling me McGee is worse than those Turd Towers?

You grossly underestimate the love here for Ayres and Bonner, its pretty much sucking love to insane heights.

The idea is to stand pat, fail and not repeat, as this team has always done.
