Fox owns the film rights to Fantastic Four and Doom as well as all the mutants -- X-Men, etc.

Marvel would love to have the rights back. If the new film with cyberpunk "Doom" craps out, they might get them.

True. I want to give that one a chance though, Affleck has redeemed himself since Gigli. That said, the excitement on the Avengers team up has been building up since, what? Norton Hulk or Iron man 1?

Yeah, DC is playing catchup and it looks completely rushed by comparison -- but if they are eschewing origin movies for the most part, I'm more than fine with that. I mean how many times can you watch Batman's parents die? We get it -- dude's messed up and angry -- just give us more Bat gadget porn. The TV Flash had his origin story told in about ten minutes on someone else's show, so it can be done.

I took a peek at the current DC comic storylines, and its even more a ridiculous array of alternate timelines and dimensions than it used to be with multiple versions of the same characters. DC seems to be embracing that insanity with its TV and movie worlds. If they could use The Flash and other TV shows to kind of formally introduce the concept to viewers, it could make things easier in the coming years.

But yeah, Marvel is absolutely killing the movies with its straightforward, well planned approach.
