It'll be really interesting to see what Revis does at this point. It's obvious the Jets have offered him more money than New England but I think we all know (Revis included) that if he goes to a rebuilding team there's a good chance it becomes a disaster and he gets cut before the contract is up.
The Pats just cut him though![]()
they declined his 20 mil option. they can still sign him for something less than that
Everyone knew that was coming, they weren't going to keep him at $20MM a year.
Wish him the best, he won us a superbowl.
Soooooo as of right now, NE has a defense that will get lit up on a weekly basis.
Hopefully there's more to the story than that, New England should have been willing to give a contract that might not have been the best in total dollars but was mostly guaranteed.
As I said a few days ago, Revis is a contract/money and has been one his entire career. He was always going to whoever offered the most total dollars.
Stephen Paea says he passed up more money to play for the Redskins.
Interesting.
Not sure how credible this source is but rumors going around it's down to Washington and Chicago.
Chris Baker keeps tweeting...
Pot Roast is pretty talented but seems like a player looking for a big pay day, plus I think he fits better in a 4-3 defense than the Redskins 3-4 defense. I think Dan Williams would be a better fit.
He had better offers last year when he went to New England...
There are plenty of players who I wish harm on when they leave(Welker), but Revis isn't one of them. That being said, I don't see it working out for him in New York. It's a rebuilding team that still has a ty offense.
Pot Roast is a good player, I wish we could have worked something out to bring him aboard (having Dan Williams for a visit instead), but he seems like he's looking for the biggest payday possible. I'm sure the Raiders made him a decent offer, but he says he got lowballed. I think he's expecting something around 9-10 mil per year after seeing what Suh and Odrick got.
So assuming Browner is gone for good, who starts at corner?
Raiders signed Roy Helu.
good pickup, and I hope that means the DeMarco Murray nonsense is over. they should turn the reigns over to Latavius
Maybe I'm being delusional, but there's no way they don't address the position at this point. I'm indifferent to Browner coming back since he's totally unproven as a stud corner who doesn't have Sherman/Revis on the other side.
Clayton just said this and I agree, but their best strategy might be to wait it out and see if a veteran corner becomes available.
as i said before, pats should have given up on that POS that is overrated and got smoked in the play offs anyway. They did not, and now we may see wilfork and browner gone for good.. it.
Are you seriously blaming Revis for Wilfork? You have an argument with Browner since that seemed like a last minute scramble, but everyone and their mother knew that Wilfork would either need to take a paycut or get cut.
they're all escaping the deflate scandal just like when carroll bolted from USC
i'm not blaming him for anything, he took the money as would i, he owes us nothing. That said, we should have known that would have happened.
I really like Roy Helu. He is a beast in the screen game, and pretty good finding those running lanes. He did seem to lose some of his speed and explosiveness he had his rookie year after he had that toe injury he had in 2012 that ended his season after the first game. He is a pretty bad blocker though. Good pickup for the Raiders if he is there third down running back.
If they weren't willing to offer $40MM guaranteed and that's what he wanted (that's what's being reported), then I agree completely. He wasn't gonna have any trouble getting that on the open market, so if they didn't want to offer it they should have been planning for it ahead of time.
