Cute girl, but this is what it's all about it.

Big Joe Williams wrote/recorded that in 1935, as you know it's been covered by a ton.

That's Shelia Wilcoxson on the National Steel guitar and vocals. Her, Rose Hemphill and Appalachian great Hazel ens must listens.

Cute girls a dime a dozen.

Frankie Lee Sims was from Louisiana but mostly played in Texas. This from 1948 a year after his cousin Lightnin' Hopkins first recorded out here in Cali.

Tommy Johnson a Delta player the first to sing about....meat shaking on the bone....back in 1928. His...Big Fat Mama...a classic.

I think most of you have heard of BB King. And maybe John Lee Hooker. Muddy Waters?

Well they all recorded after 1940.

Robert Johnson recorded in 1936 and he's pretty well known. Then we have those old blues cats that are only known by those like myself. A lot of these cats stepped into a recording studio sang a few songs and were never heard of again. guys like Bo Jones, Bobby Grant, Lane Hardin, The Shelor Family, ...Freezone (nobody knows his real name)...only recorded one song.

Then we had this from 1927....

When Rolling Stone Magazine did their TOP 100 GUITARISTS of all time they had a number of blues cats listed with B.B.King and Robert Johnson in the top 10. They also ranked T-Bone Walker, Buddy Guy and Lightnin' Hoplkins. Now you'd think Rolling Stone would know their stuff, nope!

You don't have to include blues guys at all, but if you do you must have Tampa Red, Scrapper Blackwell and the greatest blues guitarists ever, Lonnie Johnson.

This is an amazing tune, one that Elvis covered at his first Sun Records recording session in 1955. You can see why...

Elvis also covered Big Boy Crudups That's Alright Mama and Junior Parkers Mystery Train. His "Hound Dog" which came a little later was a Big Mama Thornton song. Yep, none of them saw a dime.

Bluecoat Tom Nelson, he was called that because he performed wearing a blue army coat from the cival war, yep...yankee, he along with T.C.Johnson and some cat called Porkchop worked in the old minstrel shows. They have a rather unique sound, a little different.

One of the really primitive old blues players was Bo Jones, he was a Texan. He recorded but one record and it's about as down in the bucket/back in the alley as it gets. What a shame he didn't record more. Why just one record can be asked for a ton of these guys, it's simply...???

(with 10 or so seconds left in a video move on to the next, yep...smooth)

While I own all that old stuff, I;m not constantly wandering around the Delta searching for those crossroads in 1927 with Tommy Johnson. It's just that that is the music that inspired this....

That is a cover of a cover, ha~~~~~ Robert Johnson did the original, then along came slide master Elmore James (huge influense on Brian Jones with the Stones) to make it famous.

    Derek Trucks

The great Warren Haynes Gov't Mule

It took me a long long time to finally warm up to bluegrass, why I don't know. The talent these artists have is great, now I have Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs and a ton of this...

What about Gary Clark Jr.? Is it because he's black that you don't like him? And would you believe the Black Keys...are white??? And the White Strips...are not as effective as laser?
