Of course he does. Phil ain't without Jordan or a stacked team.
As much as Phil Jackson enjoys tweaking the Spurs and coach Gregg Popovich, the Knicks' president certainly would love to build what San Antonio has.
The Spurs have been the model NBA franchise for nearly 20 years, and they're still going strong. Popovich will lead the reigning champs into the Garden Tuesday for the only time this season.
Last summer, Jackson, who had a rivalry with the Spurs stemming from when he coached the Lakers, refused to call them a "dynasty." He instead chose to say they're "a great force. They haven't been able to win consecutive championships but they've always been there."
That's a typical dig from Jackson, but that's how he measures a dynasty. He guided the Bulls to six les in eight years in the 1990s, and the Lakers enjoyed a three-peat from 2000-02 before winning back-to-back les in 2009 and 2010.
But he has gone from 11 rings to 13 wins as the Knicks continue to endure potentially the worst season in franchise history. But he hopes he can do what Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford have done in San Antonio.

KFC would have to check his ego at the door to do that and that is impossible.
just another troll job from KFC
The great thing about Jackson and Fisher in NY, is the Spurs will always have extra motivation to beat Knicks, no matter what their record.
In related news Carmelo Anthony wants to be like Tim Duncan, Derek Fisher wants to be like Gregg Popovich and Wladimir Wladimirowitsch Putin wants to be like Adolf Hitler.
...wait what?
Why did Pop turn into a mental midget whenever he faced Phil?
And don't mention 2003, we beat them that year because we had more depth
What team wouldn't want to model their franchise after the Spurs? The success they've enjoyed during Pop's tenure is nothing short of remarkable. It surpasses what the New England Patriots have accomplished and was done without cheating.
Jackson remains an overrated tool.
Had Belichick been coaching in the NBA Finals, he would have blown the air conditioning but had cooling fans just pointing at his bench and his five on the floor.
The Patriots comparison has always irked Spurs fans. While the Packers have only won half the les in the past few decades, that comparison is much more applicable. Read somewhere that only one guy on their roster has ever suited up for a different team - talk about home grown...
Lol at Fisher being HC going forward
Good luck with that Phil.
http://nypost.com/2015/03/17/the-bac...r-french-pick/
Suddenly came the announcement the Pacers had traded their only pick of the draft — at 57 — to the Knicks for cash considerations. The Knicks selected 6-foot-10 Louis Labeyrie of France.
Who? What? Where?
There’s still some shred of mystery about this French “stash’’ pick, but it is San Antonio-esque — a tactic coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford have pulled off with championship success for the Spurs, who visit the Garden Tuesday night.
Jackson has yet to comment publicly on Labeyrie, but The Post has learned the sum of the transaction, according to an NBA source, was $1.5 million.![]()
Phil and the Knicks don't have to become the spurs. They just have to win one ring to be viewed on par with the Lakers.
THANKs God FOR Michael Jordan/Pippen & Kobe/Shaq
No Dynasty but the Spurs have broken some of the Lakers record recently.
I never get the PJ hate. At least he knew how to win close games. Something that continues to escape Pop.
Pop didn't miss all those shots.
I guess it works both ways!
Good Ol' Pop tanked against the Knicks and told Budenholzer to do the same thing
Probably cost Phil his #1 pick![]()
Phil Jackson and anything he says. The closest he will get to being like the Spurs is the Austin Spurs. If he didn't have the best players in the League he would have 11 less rings.
The irony is, Jackson at his mental peak could probably not coach any Spurs team to a le.
Phil Jackson doesn't define what a dynasty is, so his opinion doesn't mean .
Never won w/o stacked team with the best players in the league.
ty article.
Phil Jackson didn't say that at all. The article just speculates that Jackson feels that way, but he says nothing of the sort. He's building a ty franchise into a tier franchise and is way too arrogant to acknowledge that the Popovich-era San Antonio Spurs is probably the best franchise in the history of sports.
