You know what I hate? I end up reading a great book and then the author never writes another or not many more. Off the top of my head, these have been some of my favorite books:

The Beach - Alex Garland. He ended up writing the Tesseract which was pretty good then nothing else.
The Etched City - KJ Bishop. Could not put this book down. She hasn't written anything since.
City of Thieves - David Benioff. He wrote 25th Hour and a collection of short stories. Then went off and wrote screenplays.

Frustrating. But maybe it just avoided being let down on later books that weren't as good.

Sometimes they do write under a different name.

James Whitehead wrote...JOINER....a great book about the south, women, hard times and football. Yep, his only book as James Whitehead.

What I hate is discovering some author like I did with James Lee Burke and finding out he has a ton of books and you must have them all. Now the search begins.

How many times have I mentioned Hollywood doing his Elric of Melniborn stories? The albino prince who relies on his vampiric sword Stormbringer for his vitality. Amazing world he's put Elric in, fantastic stories. This stuff is tailor made for today movie makers.

    So as usual, wrong!

Of all your threads and all your posts...of every word you've typed...the only thing that sticks with me is that there was some dude who called himself, "Peanut the Kidnapper". So I can't tell you how many times you've mentioned Elrich and Melniborn stories. Could be a thousand or it could be just one. I really don't know.

I've read more of Franklin's poems that your lists.

Oh yeah...the other thing that I might remember is that you want to be called "naggerVnagger".

I do get it and can see the attraction, unlike punk which totally sucks. I just have far too much better stuff to listen to.

True, true. I can recognize the talent in the genre, but never was too attracted to it. You post good stuff, looking to watch the movie you recommended. I've always liked the post-war music, you know 40s & 50s. Not too many people under 40 appreciate the stuff.

I am moody when it comes to music. Some days I need some Hank Williams, others Howlin' Wolf, some The Crows, then I get in a The Silencers mood. Other days I'll stand there for 5 minutes trying to get in a mood.

I do need to know about the sound, when it was recorded the story behind the artist, the history of it all. I like to know the music.

Here we have a lot of kids still in that immature poster phase of things, obviously I mess around with them because it's funny. So to try and show them anything is a waste of time but every once in awhile I'll find someone like you who gets it.

I figure a lot of people weren't raised on music with a lot of depth and backstory. My family would always have good music playing, they were into Queen and The Police in particular and that was passed onto me. I would read about the bands in my youth, they had very interesting backstories. I found the current bands at the time didn't seem so interesting, good music, but just not interesting people for the most part. You really appreciate the music you listen to after you know its roots and a little about the people who created it.

I quickly became interested in musicians and singers from the first half of the 1900s, especially Sinatra, Basie and Horne. I'd always do school reports on notable music figures from the time when I was given the chance and read whatever music books I came across in the library. I temporarily lost an interest during my college years, but it all came back like a boomerang on the backside of my head when I listened to this on the background of some youtube video.

Give me one example of what you consider to be a great listen and then I'll show you what a real great listen sounds like, ok shorty?
