Everyone knows this except mainstream fans. They think the system helps kawhi.
Whenever I see kawhi get 4 picknrolls in one play, I'll call him a system player.
Even Leonard feel likes the system limits him offensively..

It seems we are not watching the same team because so far it seems that this Spurs team needs all cylinders going into high gear.

considering we made b2b finals with his limited role, i think it's been fine. his role has expanded as he's shown he's ready for it. he's currently the spurs leading scorer

This has nothing to do with how the team played. Obviously Leonard is a team player like Manu and tim so he didn't whine and sulk when Pop limited him offensively in the last two years..Instead he played the best basketball he can.
The point of this thread is that prior to this year, people thought the system helped him score 13ppg
even this year Pop still limits him.
this isn't true. his efficiency and effectiveness was likely helped earlier. everybody knew his raw numbers were held back.

I remember early in the season, the team didn't know how to move away from kawhi when he tried to post up or iso. Making it harder for kawhi to score.

the spurs were trying very hard to get kawhi more involved than the past, and the team was struggling to adapt to the new kawhi-post-centric offense. the results were poor but they were growing paints.
this is all known and is what was said at the time. the circlejerk crew loves to revise history with "everybody said kawhi sucked" bull . the only person that actually mentions kawhi sucking is TheGreat got who is another known troll

Yeah I remember how Posters started to claim that Kawhi was nothing but a defensive player since he can't handle being a go to guy..
But major Props to Tim and Tiago though..They have learned how to play with kawhi as an offensive option..their spacing at times is still pretty bad, but Tim and Tiago are the two guys that had to adjust their game. Tim had to give up touches, plenty of them..His usage rate is has been reduced significantly with Kawhi's new role in the last 20 games.
Parker is really the only one who hasn't adjusted his game..and he's played awful because he's too much of a me me kinda player.
What's concerning is that Parker usage rate hasn't dropped while his play has dropped to that of top 20 pg player..
Some good games here and there but mostly bad games resulting from him trying too hard and playing piss poor defense.
This team looks like it has turned into kawhi-reliant just like the spurs were tony-reliant in 2013.

Dude, Kawhi was not ready to take on a bigger until this year. It started with last year's final. Look at his jumpshot. It even has improved from last year. The system limits everyone as it suppose to get the best shot possible no matter who is open.
Pop has proven that he is way better at coaching than any of us armchair GM/HC's in this forum. He knew it was Kwahi time in last year's final and he was right. Kawhi was doing great this year until he tore a ligament in his hand which set him back a couple of months.
