“There’s some edema and some stuff in there,” said Popovich, speaking less than two hour before tipoff of Sunday’s home game with Golden State. “It’s not real serious, but enough to keep him out a while. Hopefully we’ll get him back. He’s part of why we’ve played well lately, a big part of it.
“But he’ll miss tonight, he’ll probably miss (Oklahoma) City and Houston back-to-back, I’d imagine. I don’t want lose him. No matter who we end up playing (in the playoffs), he’s a big part of that.”
I hate when they say he will be out a while, that part there sucks. I hope he is not out a while and they do get him back for the playoffs.
Sounds worse than what Jeff wrote.
Pops definition of serious is different from mine.
That sounds pretty damn bad...
It sounds fine, its swollen, he will get rest and the swelling will go away, he could probably play on it if he needed too. But why not sit him and have him at 100% for playoffs. We dont need him now and the team can figure out how to play without him if need be over the next 4 games.
As usual, pop acts like a liberal stooge, but when it comes to things that are actually important, he's the most conservative person around.
One of TD' s proudest accomplishments, tbh.
avoid houstan in rd1, avoid gsw in rd 2 by not getting 5 seed and it's not serious, me gusta
let grizz have hca and the other potential opponents have homecourt, healthy spurs team ftw
If I remember correctly, pop said parker would be out a while after his hamstring or ankle, forget which, was acting up and lingering. Parker ended up missing about ~2 weeks iirc, so maybe it's not all bad
We look real bad with Baynes in and splitter out... NOT
Making sure your employees have the proper health care to do their jobs well seems pretty anti-"conservative" to me.
My comment had nothing to do with proper health care, it has to do with pop being more cautious than anyone else when it comes to his players and injuries. He'll take players out of games for precautionary reasons and keep them out of games even when the team doctor says they're fine just because he's incredibly conservative when it comes to injuries... holy , did I really have to explain that to you? SMH.
You didn't have to explain anything. I already knew how wrong you were. Lol
It's ok man, I explained to you already. Run along.
For the other side, Splitter had career high in rebounds twice and steals against.. GSW!
Lol what 9 rebs?
Fact is we are royally beating down the media favorites without our 3rd best big. Please bump the poster who stated gsw would beat us without splitter. Thanks.
14 reb twice, 4 steals. GSW isn't giving a about the game, despite the fact Spurs really doesn't need Splitter against their crap bigs. But in the playoffs he will be needed.
As long as he's good to go come playoff time.
If Pop says Splitter is a big part of what the Spurs do, then Splitter is important. Baynes is not more important than Splitter.
Uh. Pop says the same about Bonner too.
Baynes can equal Splitter on offense (shooting), but not on defense and definitely not as a pick and roll guy. Definitely need Splitter for the playoffs, but Baynes can do well in the interim. He has been a key signing this year. Not sure where we would be without him.
