Why does it matter who Memphis loses to? If the Spurs win out and Memphis loses twice, the Spurs will win the division no matter what. Assuming LAC wins out as well, we'd be tied and have the tiebreaker since we won our division, yes?

Supposely yes, as the Spurs and Mem would have the same division record, split the season series, so it would come down to conference record, which Memphis leads in that department.

But Memphis could very well lose both Friday and Saturday. They have 3 very tough road games in the Jazz (who have been playing lights out at home for the past month and a half), Clippers and then GS. I see them losing two of these.

Spurs win on Friday, they should easily win on Sunday, and then the final game against NO will mean a lot. It could mean the difference of a 6th seed to a 2nd seed. Spurs will be playing in force if it comes down to this scenario next Wednesday.

That's correct. Doesn't matter who MEM loses to

Memphis is playing Utah, LAC, GSW, and Indiana. Unfortunately I'm guessing that GSW will be resting their players.

OTOH, if we get the "4" seed (5 seed with HCA), playing GSW in the 2nd round wouldn't be such a bad thing.

I'm guessing GSW don't want Spurs in the 5 seed.

False, if Memphis loses once and Houston wins out after Friday, we win the 3 way tie

Pretty sure Memphis only has to lose once and the spurs win out to get the 2 seed.

Are they going to play guys and risk injury just to avoid us in the 2nd round? That would be interesting.

They are playing for Curry's MVP, so yeah I think they will play

If we win out and Memphis loses only once, we'd be tied, and I believe they own the tie breaker, by virtue of conference record.

I think it only matters that Memphis beats the Clips so we pass them, and then they'd (Memphis) need to lose any other 2 games so we can be a game up in the L column and win the division. For us to get the 2 seed that is. (i think that's what the tweet specifically was referring to)

But they'd both finish with the same record at that point. I think Memphis owns the tie breaker, at least that's what i've read. Also, if the Clips win out too, they could get the 2 seed (i think) that's why we need them to lose once as well

If Spurs finish in a tie with Clippers, we own tiebreak if we win the division. We win the division if we finish in a 3 way tie with Houston and Memphis or if Memphis loses twice.

Gsw is talented enough to win with limited minutes from curry and clay. I say the play but only to keep rhythm in the playoffs. They are young guys and really don't need rest. They've been resting for months.

Too many conditions to get the seed we want. I'm not setting my expectations high.

First tie-breaker is whether or not the a tied team won their division, so while the Spurs currently do not have the tie-breaker over LAC for a lower seed, they do have the tie-breaker for the two seed.

Spurs also win a three-way tie-breaker against Memphis and Houston (provided the Spurs win tomorrow) because they'd have a combined 5-3 H2H record against the other two teams, as opposed to Houston's 3-5 and Memphis' 4-4.

Third seed or 4/5 is more likely. It's going to be tough to win in Houston on Friday. Plus NO is fighting OKC for the 8 seed. NO will want to win against the Spurs next week and there is resting Duncan to contend with.

If we lose any game we will be 6 seed, if we win out, most likely scenario is us with the 2.

Exactly and the 3 way tie, provided we win, is the most likely scenario to occur

    LOL we won't win out.

Pop MIGHT play 1 more serious regular season game this Friday and then call it a season.

Lol, Pop will go for homecourt, he isnt dumb enough to put us in a no homecourt situation as a 6 seed, instead of a 2 seed just to "rest" guys when they dont even need it. Players will dictate what happens, they wont let Pop rest them. Until we lose, we will go for wins.
