Guys, there isn't even a downside to this. If Memphis wins, we're almost a lock for #3. If the Clippers win, we jump up to #2, by virtue of being division leaders. The second scenario is hazardous, though. If HOU drops another game, we go from winning the 3 way division tie to losing the H2H against Memphis, and would drop back behind wherever the Clippers are, no longer being a division leader.

Even that's not a bad thing. Spurs would end up at #5 with HC against the Blazers.

This assumes Memphis doesn't lose to both LA and GS, which is very possible.

Both teams are going to go for it but the real problem for Memphis is that they just went to the wire against the Jazz and play a b2b against the Clippers in L.A. Seems like the odds are against them winning tomorrow.

How would we be in #2 if the Grizz lose tomorrow? We would have the same record, be tied for the H2H, be tied for the division record, and lose the conference tiebreaker. Am I missing something?

It's assuming the Rockets win out..3-way tie means Spurs get the tiebreaker

I still don't understand how we would win a 3 way tie but not a head to head against the Grizz.

    The 3-way is like this:

    5-3 Spurs
    4-4 Mem
    3-5 Hou

H2H Spurs-Mem is 2-2, Mem owns the tiebreaker
    H2H Spurs-Hou is 3-1
    H2H Mem-Hou is 2.2

    That´s it.

It becomes the aggregate of H2H records of all teams who are tied

Seems MUCH better than playing against Houston, TBH.

EXACTLY. The Warriors have a vested interest in keeping us in the 2-3-6-7 bracket. Since we really can't finish 6th without a total collapse, they need to knock off Memphis.

Slipping to #5 and having HCA vs. Portland would be the easiest 1st-round series, easier than Rox, but it sets us up for GSW in the 2nd round. I'd rather put off that meeting till later, as I"m sure most of us would. Not saying Rox would be all that tough, especially now that Beverly and D-Mo are out for the season, but Portland would be kind of cake: no Matthews, no bench. Of course the travel would be harder vs. Portland.
