The idea of an advanced stats guy getting Josh Smith is a confusing one... the advanced stats on him in Detroit showed he was one of the worst shooters in the NBA, and the eye test/reputation test said he was bad for team chemistry... I'm sure Morey was thinking they could use his defense while reeling in his bad shot attempts, but no other coach or GM has been able to do that in ten years so it was obviously a risk...
