Mike Conley suffered a foot injury on Wednesday against the Pelicans that forced him to miss Friday's game against the Jazz. Now it looks like he could be shut down for the remainder of the season, reports the Commercial Appeal.

"I don't want to shut down." Conley said. "I'd like to be playing and in a rhythm going into the playoffs as opposed to sitting. But I've a had a bad little stretch with injuries."

Conley intends to make the decision of whether to play based on how he feels on game day, noting that ""Once I’m able to walk and put pressure on my feet, and run and cut without hesitating I can play." He's on a walking boot and receiving treatment as the Grizzlies explore the problem.

While there's no diagnosis yet, the symptoms suggest plantar fasciitis could be what's ailing Conley. If that's the case, the injury could linger throughout the playoffs, as resting is the only way to get rid of it completely. It's possible to play through it, as many athletes suffering from it have done, but the pain is persistent and Conley described it as "constantly walking on a golf ball."

Have that right now and it does hurt. I imagine he can play through it, but I'd rest him until the playoffs. Sucks for Memphis.

Parker and Duncan played through it.

    It hurts, especially at first.

No they ended up pulling out a 1-point win over Utah. They play the Clippers tonight though, and Conley won't be playing. Tony Allen is still out as well.

I have that as well, sux for him. The pain varies on the severity of the condition. That said, if it's already as painful as he says it is, he should really be looking into sitting out the remainder of the season & not risk this becoming a chronic problem for him

I imagine it's even tougher for a guard who relies on quick feet.

Not only part of their big 3, but he's also their only consistent perimeter shooter and 2nd best perimeter defender..

I had mild PF 15+ years ago. from sitting or from lying, first 2 or 3 steps hurt, limping, but then it warmed up, stretched a little, no problem, no limping. took MANY weeks to go away, can't say how many because it disappears so so slowly that the precise end point is unknowable. PF is inflammation, so anti-inflammatories, and continuous heat and foot exercise help.
