I did a simple google search and that's what google answered. However, I didn't realize it was hypothetical. Maybe this will come into play next season. I won't read the book.

It hasn't been answered in the books either I believe.
Another theory is that he's the son of Ned's sister and that Tagaryen prince that kicked off the war leading to Robert as king.
I think Snow is likely the unbeknownst bas son of Robert Baratheon and Ned's sister, as evidenced by Stark's hesitance to discuss the mother, and changing Robert's final edict to read "rightful heir". Kid is literally the bridge between the old Targaryen throne as being born of a married Targaryen Princess and new Baratheon throne as actual child.
Interesting theory. Not sure how much support it has in the series, though.

You'll inevitably feel like a dumb ass when you're waiting an entire month for new episodes while rest of us are discussing the show weekly

For a person like me, I could give a less if I watch it weekly or all at once. I generally wait for a full season to be out to download and watch it at my pace.
I've tried to watch this show 3 times because every ing person in the world has told me it's great including people who share very similar tastes in television and film.
Yet I ing hate it. I really don't get it.

I walked out on Sin City when it first came out in theatres so I guess I can't fault you.
I used to laugh at people when they told me they loved GoT. I didn't get how one can like a show where 90% of it its people talking politics but the show is so much more than that.
Season 4 really hit it out of the park with the action, didn't miss a beat.

To each their own. I feel the same about Harry Potter. I'm still hearing references to it years afters the movies/books are done, but I just can't force myself to sit through them. Game of Thrones is a commitment though. If you don't really like it, I wouldn't force yourself to watch it. There's so many characters and storylines that you'll be lost and really hate it.
Oh, and thank god for torrents.
