Some people are fond of praising Garnett's "intensity," but I really think it's Duncan's maturity and discipline that are more praise-worthy. Duncan has had much more overall success, and hasn't left a trail of former alienated teammates behind.

KG was intense but the league needs those personalities to make it interesting. I used to hate him, but like Dirk I kinda started liking KG towards the end of his career.

Kevin Garnett is overrated to death.

Much of his great scoring done on a team with nothing to play for.

Garnett didn't play 4 years of college ball. You have to factor that in when comparing stats like this....obviously not even in same league.

At his peak he was a once in a generation type of player. That 2004 season he had was something very special. For 4 years he was on Duncan's level but the Wolves are just a horrible organization that never got their act together when he was great..

We should all LOVE KG. If it weren't for his massive contract with the Wolves (that tied up so much cap space that they could never put enough around Garnett) then Tim Duncan would not be in San Antonio. The Spurs would not have been able to compete with big market teams for Duncan the year he talked to Orlando. In fact, during that lockout in 1998 I had a membership at Full Life Fitness Center (now Gold's Gym) where the Spurs were practicing informally. The other players were calling Tim "Flow" as in he was going to lose a ton of cash flow with the new CBA. Tim seriously considered Orlando at the time. What if a team was offering him $5 million a year more than the Spurs could handle? I love me some KG. He allowed me to be a fan of Spurs during what may be the greatest run of any sports team ever.
