Talked his dad today. Broken ankle...but a clean break with minimal ligament damage. Freak injury that happened while he was chasing down Swoopes. Should be back sometime in June.

2017 QB/ATH Jaylon Mascorro of Refugio has been invited to this summer's QB camp:
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3240349/...s/220236381/v2
Per 24/7, QB Shane Buechele will be in Austin this weekend.
24/7 saying 2017 LB Anthony Hines of Plano East will be at the spring game as well.
RB Kam Martin of Port Arthur Memorial will be in Austin this weekend, per 24/7.
Thanks for the update.
Some updates from Higdon:
- Reckons that QB Xavier Gaines previously felt good about us but has backed off recently, "for more than one reason which I am sure you can probably figure out."
- Still looking very good for OL Chris Owens.
- Had some conversations last night, Texas is landing the OL they want.
- Likes the way things are going with DT Kendell Jones. The other top-tier guy, DT Jordan Elliott is tougher to get a read on, but loves Strong & his coaching staff.
- Apparently S Eric Monroe may be cooling on Texas. Has to do with Texas recruiting a lot of others at his position, which doesn't make sense to Higdon since Monroe' offer was/is very much committable. Doesn't think Monroe will visit Austin this weekend, reckons he'll be at the LSU spring game instead.
- Texas needs to land Owens and OT Jean Delance. Another option, OT Kellen Diesch put out his top 5 and we're not in it. Delance on the other hand is still interested in Texas.
- There's a solid chance Greg Little visits Texas this weekend.
- Most likely to be our second QB is Tristen Wallace.
- We're the team to beat for ATH Christian Wallace.
Scout saying TE Peyton Aucoin and TE Irvin Smith of New Orleans, LA will be in Austin the weekend of April 25th.
Baylors 24/7 site are reporting that one source told them, that 5-star S Brandon Jones might end up being a Texas-LSU battle. A&M has long been thought to be the clear cut leader in this one, so that's encouraging to hear.
2017 ATH Jeffrey Okudah of South Grand Prairie talks about his visit to UT and receiving an offer (OrangeBloods):
"I got to watch them practice. At the end of practice, the whole defensive staff surrounded me. Coach (Charlie) Strong said they wanted to extend an offer," Okudah said.
"It was big. I know Texas is a prestigious school in the state. For them to offer me and not offer a lot of guys yet, that means a lot."
"I like physical DBs. That's what they're all about," Okudah said. "I can see why they send a lot of DBs to the NFL. They have physical practices and their DBs are coming up big on game day."
"I want to take it slowly, let it play out," Okudah said. "I'll probably wait into my senior year (before deciding)."
"He (Jason Hall) just said he's not going to pressure me to go anywhere, but Texas is a great place to consider because of what coach Strong is building," Okudah said.
"It's a school I'm going to really consider because of the background it has and the tradition it possesses," Okudah said. "I really liked (the visit). I liked it a lot. I was impressed with the staff."

Update on OL Chris Owens of Arlington Lamar after his visit to UT (24/7):
"We met with coach Strong and lot of the other staff, and we spent a lot of time talking to the academic advisors," Owens told Horns247 Sunday night. "I think everything went well. The academics is definitely trending upward."
"I don't want to make a decision too soon, because I know the coaches are coming to visit, and I want to have a chance to meet with everyone," Owens said. "I haven't really turned anything down yet."
"He (Strong) was always one of the coaches I liked," Owens said. "When I went up there, he was not only disciplined himself, but it's also rubbing off on the guys on his staff. It's not just something you see on TV. It's real."
"He's (Wickline) very straightforward," Owens said. "One of the first things he told me was that he wasn't really good at the whole recruiting thing, because he doesn't like to sugar-coat anything. That was something I liked. He basically told me that's how it was. He's different in his own way."
Quick quotes from CB Jaylon Jones of Allen (24/7):
“When I found out the practice was at 10 a.m., my family decided not to go,” Jones said. “It was too early, so we decided that next weekend might be better.”
“Texas would be pretty up there (if they offered),” Jones said. “It’s a great defensive program. coach (Charlie) Strong is building something special there. I’m trying to come out with my top schools soon and if Texas offers, they’ll be pretty high.”
Quote from QB Woody Barrett of Winter Garden, FL (OrangeBloods):
"I do have Texas on my radar. I'm still doing some homework about Texas. I'm trying to find a schedule to fit them in during the summer, see if I can take a visit there," Barrett said. "I need to get with their coaches, see if I can work things out to see the campus, see the facilities and everything."
looks like texas is in the lead for mack
http://www.gogame s.com/2015/04/1...-from-vcu.htmlMack chose VCU over South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia and Connecticut. Those could be back in play, and the Longhorns have been added to the list.
“That’s mainly one of his options,” Paula Mack said of Texas. “He wants to weigh out the rest. To sit down and see what’s best for him, where he best fits.”

247Sports with updated 2017 rankings. Here is their Texas state rankings. I think Shawn Robinson should be the number 1 guy in Texas instead of Marvin Wilson, but it doesn't really make any difference. LB and LSU commit Dylan Moses still tops the national rankings.
