What's the reason of that meaningless meltdown?

We've just lost a regular season game against a very focused and talented team which became a at match-up against us all season.

So what? Finishing 6th instead of 2nd? None of us were dreaming 2nd seed in the west 3 weeks ago and we were ready for 6th seed. Thanx to our great run and momentum, we won 11 in a row.

We need to beat Clippers and Houston to reach WCF instead of Dallas and Clippers. Not a big deal. We only lost HCA in the first two round.

Now we're in a tougher path, but we can overcome that. We still have our form, and most important is our guys are healthy.

The bright side is, Warriors are in a bad situation too. They need to overcome a tough New Orleans instead of injury-depleted OKC. And after that they will face against fesh Memphis who will likely sweep Portland.

Just believe to our guys. Stop trolling Parker and others. We're still the goat.

NOP will test the Warriors more than Memphis tbh. The Grizzlies have sucked for a while now and have just recently fallen apart health-wise. Warriors are going to skate to the WCF while Spurs will have to deal with shows like the game in Houston last week.

Tiago is not healthy is he?

I much rather would be in GSW shoes with HC and facing a young 8th seed with no experience than what the Spurs are facing on the road, that is not a bad situation are you serious? I doubt Memphis sweeps Portland as well and they are VERY banged up right now (Memphis) to say the least, doubt they sweep.

The rest sounds like I am a fan and I believe hoopla but I respect that and see you have faith in the team which is good. 2nd seed is alot better than 6th and two rounds with HC is two rounds, it kind of is a big deal when you think about it and the players you can tell wanted that seed bigtime with some comments (Manu etc.). I agree it was just one game today but it happened to be a huge game for HC, win one or two earlier and none of this matters but it came down to the last game and they lost.

I am rooting for the team as you are and hope they can go all the way, not easy though. BTW Dallas and Houston are a tight match, don't just pencil Houston in for the 2nd round as of yet man, atleast let that play out. I think that is a long series.

Yeah Memphis has fallen apart health wise as I just said to him, no way they sweep Portland like he predicts. Both are banged up though. Memphis skidded into the playoffs, lucky they won all those games early because the last Q they were God awful.

Warriors will skate to the WCF though, agreed there.

It's just the annoying nature of Spurstalk.

People here were melting down bigtime last season too. It's also easier to be negative, than to give praise about what is going right.

Spurs are the second best team in the NBA IMO and they had a chance to finish second. Finishing 6th might not see them get anywhere because of seeding. It's a bit of a big deal IMO.

Oh well, we have to do it the hard way. It's still gotta be done, it's just gotta be done another way now.

With no legit reason being the Spurs won 62 games and were the 1st seed (Huge difference), don't see why they were melting down last year but yes some were after almost every little loss. This team this year late played similar to the team last year that got HOT though so we will see where that takes them.

Yes, jumping from 2nd to 6th is kind of a big deal and HC is good to have. Some will sugar coat that but there is a reason only one 6th seed has EVER won a le in the history of the game, it's that hard.

The Spurs are way better than their seeding though you are right, damn those earlier games they blew came back to haunt them. They played lights out to get 2nd seed and fell short on the last night, sucks.

HCA may be important on the paper, but we didn't need it last year except first round. We beat all of our opponents on road at least once and we lost only twice at home. We can do it again.

And about Memphis. They're a tough team which you don't want to face in play-offs. They seemed much worse last few years but we all saw what they did against us and OKC. They're tough and have post-season experience. GSW will have really hard times against them. Book it.

We had the HC though every round, so you win the first two games usually with that at hand and then go to their house up 2-0. That is HUGE believe it or not, 2-0 usually means you are going to win the series, but they were 1-1 in two of the series so I can see that point otherwise if you want to use that as to say they won on the road. No team but one has ever gone to win a le being the 6th seed, wouldn't that mean it's VERY tough? I would say so.

Spurs have never been a 6th seed and won it all, the last time they were a later seed round two was their ceiling in 010 and they got swept. I know this team is better and the champs but man they wanted that 2nd SEED and HC and you know it. Spurs can do what again? They had HC last year throughout, they have never won as a lower seed so this would be a first with all road series. This is new, not last year and not the past, this team is facing a new scenario.

Memphis is a tough team no doubt, played bad down the stretch though and is banged up right now with Gasol and Conley! That is not good going into the playoffs. They are lucky they are facing a banged up Portland team with HC so they probably win, just not a sweep. I wanted that 5th seed for that reason, easier first round than what we ended up with.

GSW will kick the crap outta NO in round one, at worst 4-2 and in the 2nd round they might have a little trouble but still facing an easier team than the Spurs will have to. They will make the WCF easily IMO, if not their toughest series will go 6 games. I will book it though, you come back and tell me you told me so if that happens.

We only lost HCA in the first two round.
And in the second round, too!

But overall I agree, it still can be done.

And we didnīt really expect them to have a chance at the 2nd place weeks ago...

I don't think tonight changes anything other than no more HCA. The Spurs ed around all year and put themselves in this position but they are still playing really good ball. What worries me is the Tiago situation. If he's not healthy, this run will be very difficult to overcome.

Nearly every NBA champion was seeded 1st, 2nd, or 3rd when they won their les. Only once has a champion come from the lower seeds and that was with prime Hakeem. No such player exists on the current Spurs. It's looking more and more likely that the Spurs won't make it out of the West. Parker will sink this team in either the first or second round. Because of no home court advantage ,we won't have the safety cushion of an extra game at home in a series. Even if we make it out of the first two rounds, we'll be exhausted by the conference Finals(remember the Lakers series in 2008?)

Losing that Pelicans game was the worst possible thing that could happen. No more momentum going into the playoffs. No more easy first round matchup with the Mavs. Brutal result tonight.

seeding means absolutely nothing. the knicks got to the finals as an 8th seed. You play the games, u score the baskets, u shut down your opponents. The spurs are too much of a veteran team to be worried about a crowd booing or cheering them on. There is no such thing as HCA in the nba. It's all mental. it's not like in football when when the Patriots can have HC in a freezing stadium that most teams aren't used to. If green can hit on a 10 foot rim in san antonio, then I have no idea why he can't hit on a 10 foot rim in LA.

    Lockout season. Leastern Conference.

Seeding does matter. Of the 67 NBA champions, all but two of them have been either a one, two or three seed. There's too much factors going against the Spurs. Splitters injury. Pop falling in love with the awful Enrique/Cancerelli duo. Cojo replacing Mills in the rotation. Playing Dallas would have meant very little travel with the entire series being in Texas. Now they're going to have to travel back and forth to LA. I'm not trying to be pessimistic here but, realistically, Spurs have a VERY difficult road ahead of them.

Spurs have blown a few of those as well so I can't really laugh too much being 04 and 12 were bad examples........ Still I love to have that 2-0 lead, you feel loose going onto the road and if you steal one it's basically over! If not you get to go home for that pivotal game 5.

YEP, don't bring up the Knicks miracle run in the East that year to use as an example. I thought of that earlier but in the end they still got beat 4-1 in the Finals so the outcome was not great. The Rockets did it, that is all and that is the ONLY team to ever do it because it is that hard. Like you said of the 67 champs most were higher seeds, there is a reason for that. The difference between the 2nd and 6th seed is HUGE and that will sting IMO, bigtime. I don't see them making the finals this year honestly but I hope I am wrong as a fan, just such a hard road tbh and every round on the road is hard to overcome.

I would much rather them be opening up against Dallas on Sunday tbh, that scenario was so much better. The Clippers are another hot team going into the playoffs, not exactly a team you want to face on the road right now and that is what the Spurs are up against.

Everything you said is the truth, not pessimistic at all but dead on 100% truth. Anyone who denies it and says no sweat and we will be fine is fooling themselves, this is a DEAD on hard task ahead of them and honestly it will be a miracle if they come out of the West this year.

"Good" loss tonight. The Spurs fought back to make it a game after going down by 23 points. Davis needed 26 shots to score 31 and turned the ball over 6 times and didn't dominate the offensive glass, and they defended Davis well without their most versatile big man defender ("It still hurts "). Encouraging, since Blake is basically a shorter Anthony Davis (but a much better passer). Their PGs feasted, which is no surprise, but Tony actually matches up well with Paul since Paul doesn't beat you with speed anymore, and if Tony starts getting roasted, we can hide him on Barnes.

We match up well with the Clips. Just sucks about not having home court.

Come on, that's an awful loss. Arguably more important than losing a playoff game. The chance of winning goes down a significant amount.

I'm a noted pessimist, but my only worry is Splitter's health. Seeding, while important, isn't as crucial for a team with this much experience and resolve. The road won't faze them. Additionally, every team in the West (aside from the Warriors) is about equal in strength and similarly built, featuring a shot-blocking center, athletic PF who can hit the midrange jumper, and a good PG. 2 seed or 6th, we were pretty much playing the same team either way.

The Clippers don't overly concern me because their small forward rotation is trash (Barnes is washed up and Crawford is an inefficient chucker), which will free up Kawhi to cause maximum damage on both ends. And their SG rotation isn't too deep, either, with Red (a good shooter, but not much of a threat to beat you off the dribble and such, something the Spurs have had trouble defending from the SG position all year. Green should have little trouble staying with him) and then Doc's son behind him. Then you have DeJordan as a liability at the free throw line, which will definitely come into play. And their big rotations is ultra thin, too. Hawes, Big Baby, and nothing else.

Griffin and Paul will have to go God Mode to win this series.
