Using a first round pick on a running back in 2015 would be a firing offense.

Yeah, because it's not like we had one of the tiest O-lines in the league or anything. Running backs are interchangeable role players nowadays, all you need for a good running game is run blocking.

Not ALL you need, but i'd rather get a better lineman than troutman to improve our whole offense.

We can improve RG more than we can RB in the first round.

No we didn't. The O-line was improved and has been improved already. Running backs are role players? Don't tell Marshawn Lynch. And if 'all you need for a good running game is good blocking', why not just draft 7 linemen and Donald Brown will run 2,000 in yards right?

The O-line was 27th in pass blocking and 26th in run blocking last year. Now, there's ways to scheme around that in the passing game that Reich is too much of an overconservative pussy to come up with, but still, there was almost no talent on that line and Franklin alone isn't enough of an improvement.

Marshawn is the rare exception to the rule, and even then, Seattle lost to a team using an RB by committee approach with one of the best run-blocking lines in the league. Yes, running backs ARE role players. Justin Forsett was a nobody who bounced around multiple teams' practice squads until he got to the Ravens and their 4th-best run-blocking line, then he magically looked like a stud. I hate Donald Brown, but even he would look a lot better behind players who could block for him.

Also, running backs peak early and decline by age 27. That's a piss-poor investment of a first-round pick in today's league.

NO NO NO NO NO NO!

well OK maybe, at least he's not from the WAC and we wouldn't be giving up a 2nd rounder...

but I'd prefer anyone on the OL or DL
