Names of the trailer characters revealed
Interesting they left out their family names .... do you think they are Calrissian, Solo, Slywalker, etc ?

I don't know what will be a bigger distraction, Nat Geo face Storm Trooper or the light saber that looks like fan art a 12 yr old made
I don't think they wanted to make a christian symbol but just put a cross-guard on it.
IMO Darth Maul saber was the sickest. Too bad the movie sucked.
I remember that movie like it was yesterday^
everyone shutup
start at 3:30
we get it. It still looks stupid as . The only way I'd be ok with it is if it's some kinda makeshift version that the character has to make hastily
pretty much.
i read a comment elsewhere, someone compared the new lightsaber to EU one-upmanship design, that sounds about right. As for African storm trooper, we'll see how it plays out.
My biggest issue is the look of the film is definitely different from the previous trilogies. I actually enjoyed the prequels despite realizing they had serious, perhaps fatal, flaws. Lucas is still great at editing and visual storytelling. The concept design and overall universe on screen were incredible. Lucas has been doing that since THX1138 and I haven't seen anything from JJ that suggests it will fit with that mold.
We'll see how it turns out. I think it will be entertaining but ultimately feel like the biggest fan film ever made.
sounds like Lucas won't be involved at all, in that they threw out his outline/treatment which was what I feared. not saying all his ideas are great but would still go with the creator's vision than Abram's. my interest in this is pretty low, I'll just enjoy it as well made fan fiction.

i have to admit though, this leaked footage of that new lightsaber battle looks badass, just insane. lefty

Lol wtf
black male = not watching
I recently saw the first new Star Trek. I've come around, Trek is better
That was so incredibly unspectacular. Btw, how the did the definition of a TEASER trailer get changed to an over a minute trailer? I remember a true teaser being like literally 30 seconds and mostly captions and vague shots. These are ing trailers. Enough
LOL @ black guy
Are you really not going to watch this movie because a black guy is in it? Have you seen the other six?
I'm kidding. But as a Star Wars guy, I respect Star Trek more
definitely looks much better than that Abrams dropped before. It still feels like the greatest fan flick/EU film ever made, and tbh still not sure about Abram's visual approach, though some of it looks great. Lucas is a really good visualist but then again, I can't complain about Abrams using real stormtroopers and shooting it on film again.
More blacks in Star Trek tbh.
I don't think I saw one lens flare in the trailer, so there's hope.
yeah he went fkin overboard in the ST films. It feels more Spielbergian with the camera movements. That's not necessarily bad, I just dig Lucas' framing better. I'm more interested in how much of the story was changed from Lucas' treatment, but this looks above average.
I understand, but take away his visuals and you get a guy who became a pretty bad filmmaker because no one around could tell him when he was sucking ass.
I get how things are different. Who started that focus change/zoom stuff for flight scenes? Michael Rymer in BSG? I find that kind of hackneyed now. Love Rymer's visuals in Hannibal. That show has some of the best I have ever seen on network TV.
Not sure how I will react to a Star Wars without laughable dialogue (if that's the case with this one). Is kendo mask the big bad guy?
I actually don't know who the bad guy is, I haven't read any spoilers, other than Luke's chopped hand falling through space in the opening shot. Hope it's not true. I believe that digital zoom shot was first used in Episode II iirc.
