Why is Barnes suddenly considered a bad defender? I thought he was among the better ones.

yes. if he cares so much about getting his numbers that he has to force bad shots to make up for not getting the ball enough then he's not fitting the spurs mold
Ah yeah, let's point the finger at the best player on the team who chose to force up a couple of shots rather than stand in the corner. Meanwhile the 'point guard' who got the shooters 0 3PT FGAs and didn't get the best player on the team involved gets a free pass bc he shot 60% and had 6 assists .

He's like 35 or 36 now IIRC. I do expect him to try to get into KL's head with cheap though so KL needs to be ready for that tbh.

All these Tony haters here are complete immature clowns. As if we are going to beat anyone elite in the west without him playing at a high level.

He failed to score in double digits for most games in April while the team was playing its best basketball of the season. But go ahead and keep perpetuating the 'Spurs go as Rique goes' myth.

as long as the Parker haters keep perpetuating the Spurs would have won 18 more games this year with Austin Rivers as PG instead of MVParker shtick. Player hating is dumb, I want MVParker and the Kingslayer to have a great playoff run they aren't mutually exclusive. Yes I curse Manu when he craps the bed but only then when he does something great I applaud. Some of you guys diss a player that leads a team in scoring in a game we win by 20+. I am not sure if all the Parker hate isn't generated by Brent Barry and Eva Longoria under multiple alts. I want 6 and could care less if KAnderson or Jeff Ayers is the FMVP when we get it. Then again I have doubts in how much of the player hate is because of true belief and how much is it for effect. You can diss the Red Mamba but how many will rise up in his defense? You can diss Ayers but that is like saying water is wet. Timmy is a made man and untouchable so to get the most heat (and responses) either go hard on Kiwi or TP. It makes sense but it also sucks up too much air on this forum that could be dedicated to rooting for and loving on a team we all say we love and giving honest, objective, intelligent critiques on what's going on in Spursland. I was hoping this thread would point out mismatches that would lead to Kiwi being the major matchup advantage in a series vs the Clippers or how being able to go from "the Beautiful game" to a more Iso centric Kiwi attack might throw off our playoff compe ion (ala Rocky fighting left handed in Rocky II) but sadly it turned into KL vs TP thread 843. End of rant Go Spurs Go.

    Uhhhh...

Parker haters are claiming Parker goes hero. And if he would only get the ball to KL we will be fine.

Is this not a claim that the Spurs go as Tony goes argument...? You call it a myth.
So you want it both ways... wait, wtf exactly are you arguing?
    Seriously, just stop and think.

parker doesn't get a free pass. he deserves criticism. my only opposition with your "crew" is the constant thread spamming about it. but that doesn't excuse kawhi for his own poor decision making. and saying but parker did it too is just childish.

kawhi made poor decisions. but player fans simply can't accept it

Are you stupid? You can't claim the team goes as he goes when the Spurs played their best ball of the season while he was having a minimal impact. Rique doesn't need to score big or even rack up tons of assists, the team was doing just fine with him simply staying out of the way.

I'd agree if we assume he would've gotten his shots off ball movement or plays being called for him. That wasn't the case though, the alternative was to stand in the corner and let Rique dribble dribble dribble or play his two-man game with one of the bigs.

stop trying to excuse him for poor decision making just because another teammate was making poor decisions.

its not like parker was being inefficient on offense, anyway. his flaws came on the other end, and realistically shouldn't have affected kawhi's decision making on offense

0 3PT FGAs for the shooters and few play calls for the best player on the team while Rique was out on the court. Those are facts not an excuse. I don't care how efficient he was, that's a recipe for disaster.

    .
You are Fckn clueless as to what you are arguing. You Fckn said when Parker goes hero Spurs lose, when he tries to do very little Spurs win. So Spurs go as Tony goes. Aggressive we lose, do nothing we win.

I would claim he must be able to differentiate between when he needs to use his aggressive penetration/ layup/ kickout and jump shot, and when he needs to move into space without the ball and occupy defenders; get the ball down the court and start motion. We need both those Parkers imo.

BTW, since we really don't need Parker, who do we star at point? You continually bypass this question.

none of these s have played basketball I assume.

If you're generally regarded as one of the better players in the field, you're going to hoist up shots if you're not getting any..

Lebron did it with Miami in 2011, Bosh has done it multiple times when he is not getting shots..

It's normal when you have other inferior players dominating the ball..

How do I know you guys haven't played ball before?

Love the claw but all this he need to be the focal point on offense need to stop, most times he doing his thing is an iso situation and we don't need to much of that. What we do need is for him to be a shut down defender, rebounder and to be aggressive but smart on offense, his defense and rebounding ability is far more important to the team and whoever has the hot on any given game should take the lead on offense

    This is laughable.
In the field, you just typed in the field...
At any reasonable level of play you may be considered the team's best player, but NOT the best ball handler.

    You are a total fake.
Get back to those Phillipino pick up games.
Jesus... on the field? How about floor? Something you have never stepped on.

So you are coming into the gym; nothing to see yet. What sound is gonna tell you it's gonna be a tough practice or game? What do you hear that tells you it's time to get worn down?
