2 different types of dro and a pack of cigarillos? Check.
6 pack of Blue Moon White IPA? Check.
And you can make your own movies in this version too...enjoy that![]()
Thanks bro![]()
Still haven't played GTAV or Mortal Kombat X, getting good and drunk first
Looks like this performs pretty badass on PC at launch even, though I guess it should be expected to since it doesn't have the crazy detailed grass and like you see in Dragon Age Inquisition or Crysis 3.

baseline bum
It is pretty solid for launch. I experimented with my HDTV vs. G-Sync, and the G-Sync made a huge difference. I was getting inconsistent frames when on my HDTV, but the G-Sync monitor very, very rarely dropped below 60 in game. This game has the most in depth graphical settings options of any game I've played, and the only two settings I messed with is MSAA off, and shadows at normal. Everything else is maxed.
I exceeded the VRAM limitation of 2GB for my card, the settings I have on total around 2700 MB with ultra textures, but the game runs just fine for me, averaging around 70 FPS when on the G-Sync monitor. So far so good![]()
Now the Mortal Kombat X launch on the other hand..

Wasn't even able to play last night, Steam really ed up with their stupid ass background streaming install crap![]()
Damn, texture quality makes almost no difference when it comes to performance with a 2GB card or better but it makes a night and day difference for image quality. Even Very High vs High looks hugely different, unlike say Shadows of Mordor where medium and 6GB ultra look almost the same.
Yeah, there's no other option for textures other than very high.
Wow, great soundtrack![]()
An interesting look at how graphics settings affect performance
This game is really ing solid. Going to try Online today to see how that is. I've heard it's a lot less demanding graphically.
Yeah, great game. So detailed. The missions are a blast..loved detonating that phone and seeing that dudes head blow off on live TV![]()
The draw distance is amazing..I'll pull over and take a couple selfies with some of the backdrops you come across at sunset/sunrise..
Holy , that's hilarious. Still, there are some much funnier moments later on in the game, especially involving Trevor and then Michael's fat kid.
The missions are the complete opposite of tedious GTA IV. No dull missions I can recall, whereas every single mission in IV felt like doing laundry or closing Oblivion gates.
When I first got the game on XBox 360 half the time I just liked hiking up the mountains for the views. It's gotta really be something on PC. Since I have already done 100% on the original version of the game I'm leaning against buying it anytime soon though, and I'm not going to download 60GB of to pirate it.
So, I turned my textures to very high, and my grass to normal. Game looks even more amazing now and I get about the same frame rate, ~45+ with occasional dips. Loving it.
My favorite station is The Down Low with all the Smokey Robinson and Delfonics .
Wow, the internet is full of . I heard lots of people complaining about GTA V on the GTX 970, and having just got this the 970 demolishes the game. I have everything on Very High except MSAA is off in the Graphics settings and I'm pulling 75-100 FPS driving on the highway, 100-120 FPS on foot in the city, 70-90 FPS on the mountains in areas with dense grass even in the rain, and the whole benchmark runs mostly 100-120 FPS except the last segment in the Hummer when it runs 80-100 FPS. Just ing butter smooth when I turn VSync on to 60 FPS. I haven't messed with the Advanced Graphics tab yet. But all these things I heard were performance killers like setting shadows to softest, turning grass up to the highest setting, maxing out pedestrian density, etc don't seem to affect the i5 + 970 combo at all. Maybe it was just a problem on the initial release, but it definitely doesn't seem to be one now. BTW I never use MSAA anymore now that postprocess antialiasing looks so good. I hate how GeForce Experience always recommends 4xMSAA for practically every game that has that option. Oh yeah, turned off motion blur too since that's useless when you can push 60 FPS; only makes sense to turn that one when you're getting 30 FPS like on the consoles.
Rockstar really did an amazing job optimizing this game. And what a difference on i5 + GTX 970 vs XBox360. I mean Vice City looked a lot nicer on a good gaming PC than XBox/PS2, San Andreas looked somewhat better on PC, but V looks night and day better. Especially the road and building textures.

Oops, I didn't notice you can put a couple of settings at ultra. I put postprocessing at ultra and depth of field is on and it doesn't seem to affect performance much. But ultra grass vs very high grass makes a night and day difference when driving through the country. With everything else on ultra or very high when there is no ultra setting but grass at very high, my FPS is low 70s to high 80s driving through the country. With grass at ultra though it's consistently in the 50s with drops into the mid 40s. So I guess ultra grass is a setting more for an X / GTX 980Ti / R9 390 / R9 390x or dual card setups. Still, my 970 crushes this game. Pretty cool to only have to turn one setting down for a locked 60 FPS. Well, I am hitting 56-57 FPS running through a meadow with lots of flowers, but otherwise it locks to 60 FPS. If you get that GTX 980Ti DJR210 it's definitely worth putting grass at ultra, as the image quality is a lot better driving through the country. It's not worth the 20 FPS hit for me since it drops me below 60, but a 980Ti will probably keep above 60 the whole time and got GSync anyways.
Are you using the GeForce performance guide? It's awesome. The settings that I turn down leave me with performance that drops in the low 60's, but usually stays around 75-80 FPS.
Extended distance scaling all the way up is a killer. The buildings are all still visible, but the amount of detail at distances is reduced. Mine is at 20%.
Grass is a killer like you mentioned, I run mine on high. Ultra gives you slightly better grass, but much better grass shadowing.
Reflections on ultra vs very high are hardly noticeable, but will give you like 5 FPS back on very high. Reflection MSAA is worthless.
Ambient Occlusion is bugged at the moment, I turned mine off.
Because of my reduced settings, this afforded me more room to turn shadows to high, combined with Nvidia PCSS for soft shadows (another tech way better than AMD'S version, screw you Cry Havoc) with high resolution shadows on in the advanced graphics. You'll see in the GeForce guide how much better this combo is.
Post Process on ultra isn't worth it, you get a more blurred bloom and god ray effect at the cost of another few FPS. Mines on high.
Long Shadows is pretty much worthless.
