Dirk used to get 20FTA a game as well. Some here seem to forget that most successful players in the league got a lot of FTA per game. The difference is that Harden will have an otherwise bad shooting night, but he'll have the large majority of his points at the line.
Parsons is hurt, he has no lift or explosion. 2 days before the game he was saying if game 1 was today I wouldn't be playing. They need to just sit him.
I'm still trying to figure out this
?
Dirk never got 20 FTA a game ever in his career. Not in a regular season or playoffs run, not even close
I meant 20 in a game, not as a running average. I don't know if that's ever happened with anyone. There was a game against SA in 2006 where it seems Dirk got almost all of his points from the FT line, I think he took 25FTA or something like that. I've seen Dallas have over 50 FTA in a game. The team used to be the best FT shooting team in the league, so they tried to get to the line and they would, and they'd hit in the mid 90's or something. In 2009 Lebron James averaged over 14FTA a game in the playoffs.
I think James Harden's are so offensive because he otherwise doesn't have much of a game. You look at those three guys, and of the three (Harden, Westbrook, Durant) only Durant is good enough to win without being bailed out by refs every time they jump into a crowd of defenders back first like stage diving. Even then Durant has that sweep through move that the league was supposed to ignore but they don't.
If the intentional foul is an eyesore, surely this ticky tack foul calling and one guy getting more FTA than the entire other team has to be even more so.
I agree, but I feel the same way about all SFs that only score and nothing else(Carmelo, Jeff Green, Parsons, Tobias Harris, etc)..it's too hard to build an offense around them..
Dirk shot 24 freethrows against OKC in 2011 playoffs

Probably should have been defensive 3 seconds.
Thanks. I thought of at least 5 of those lines by myself.
24/24 is damn impressive, no matter how you twist it. The concentration of Dirk during that playoff run was just laser-like.
He looked OK up until that fastbreak dunk. I think adrenaline got the best of him and the crowd goaded him into that power dunk that aggravated his knee ...
It was. I said it many times if you take the games he was healthy in regular season plus the playoffs his was the best shooting I had ever seen even over Bird.
Whatever it was he needs to just sit because he looked awful after those first couple of dunks
This was the issue the 2011 Mavs for all their efficiency on offense was a really good sneaky defensive team ... this team? Not so much ...
I think reunions may work for Rock bands but for sports is a very bad idea.
It's not just the reunion stuff is bad, but when you break up a le team ... you lose some of the cohesion that made them a le team in the first place. Plus, Mavs were on a historic pass offensive efficiency wise early in the season but then Trader Cubes went after Rondo. Many on here pointed out why it was a bad idea. Rondo was fine in game one but the offense has never truly clicked for a strong stretch of consecutive games because ellis and Rondo is a horrible fit ...
But trade or not they were never gonna win with this defense. That is why they gambled but it's also why they wont ring. the slight bump on defense rondo gives (arguable) is not enough to offset the porous defense and the stagnation of the offense.
Mavs could steal this series btw, but I dont see them getting much further. RC I respect him so much but his deck is not as good as last year tbh ... even though this team is better on paper.
Agreed, Cubes is not very good to play GM.
If Dirk is Top 5 PF......he carries them tonight. Atleast Late
Damn, now this'll prolly be a sweep.
