agreed. It has been a curse for some but he has done a great job ...
Nice to see the award go to a real coach for once.
Those black coaches in top 3
kerr deserved this award more than anyone else. Bud had two years to implement his system.it took one year for steve to implement his....
media trying to defend Mark Jackson ego..
So the award should never go to Pop, then? After all, he's had 20 years to implement his system.
lol inherits a playoff team
now give bud the gsw roster...
not at all...
What Kerr is good at is not ing things up, and not being a player fan. Mark Jackson was enamored by great players, so much so that it affected his decision making as a coach. He also has an unjustified elevated sense of self worth, an ego that most black coaches seem to possess that's undeserved and unearned. Because of that he's never wrong. Kerr probably can be wrong and probably doesn't have any issues with saying so. He wasn't the "star" of the team, he had to find ways to be effective in his role and he was. You look at star players, they seldom make good coaches because it came easier to them than it did others, and they cannot relate to the majority of their rosters. They are enamored by stars, and it becomes an unspoken clique between those few. You see that quite often in fact.
Coach Bud inherited a team that was already over themselves. He's humble enough to admit that, and Danny Ferry is no slouch.
Both were deserving ... but Bud had less talent so I get why he won ... no issues with it going to either coach. And though he is ty overall McHale did a good job adjusting his rotations to account for injuries and new roster additions. still not a great or even good coach but he did a good job.
No question about who was going to win.
As good of a speech as you'll get for an NBA award presentation. Was cool how he saved talking about Pop for last.
Well deserved taking those scrubs to 60 wins.
The Hawks organization, upon finding out from NBA about the award, called Popovich to ask him if he wanted to break the news to Bud. He did.
Kerr inherited a top 5 team. Good take, dumbass.
