Phenomenal effort for Bud to win that award in just 2 years of being a head coach in the NBA.

I don't disagree with this. I think Pop (and our vets) are tired of basketball. we need new blood and hunger.

Bud is a winner, I believe he won almost all the games he took over while in the Spurs. he's a damn winner

Difference between Kerr and Bud. Bud actually built that team. Acquired Korver, Williams, Muscala, Carroll, Schroder, Sefolosha.

I think the only mainstays on that roster pre Bud era are Teague and Horford.

Kerr basically took over a team Jackson had put together. That is why, imo, the writers voted for Bud, because you can say he was a self made man, whereas Kerr, was that kid that inherited what he got.

    I agree.

I think coming back with exactly the same roster was a mistake (I hope they prove me wrong!).

I don't feel the hunger guys like DG or Mills had those last years + we are more predictable than ever

He had an undefeated recorded. What sold me on Bud was the last game against GS when the spurs won 50 games in the short season. Spurs came out like crap in the first half. Bud look so much like a nice guy but he was steaming on the sideline. I had never seen him so pissed. The Spurs came out in the 2nd half and clean the floor against a depleted Warriors team (remember Manu, Parker or Duncan weren't playing either).

Yup. Wouldn't mind an infusion of younger hungrier players.

Hey, I wanted to reload in 2008 and this off-season. I always want to reload. We reloaded in 2006 and I think that team was pretty darn good, but unfortunately we got screwed over by the refs in the Dallas series (games 3 and 4 in particular) and Pop went re ed against Avery with his lineups. Man, thinking back that far, Pop really does have problems with his lineups.

Another reason to reload is - teams are going to be gunning for you, so coming back with the same team might not be the best motivation against those other teams that are looking to knock you off. Having some new blood, some new hungry player/s can help IMO. I also think that if you want to come back with the same team, then you'd want to have the best player in the NBA on your roster to be able to do that. I get what the Spurs were trying to do as there wasn't really much out there, but I don't think reloading could have hurt at all.

Spurs can still win. It's just going to be a lot harder to do it this way.

If the Spurs aren't in the finals, I'll be rooting for Bud and the Hawks to win it all.

I think Pop and RC have gone too sentimental after this le...

Maybe it's just my imagination, but even if I have no doubt about Pop's compe ive nature and will to win, BB isn't the most important thing for him as he said MANY times.
It seems as if he favored the human factor prior to the sporting one.

I mean Austin Daye? really? couldn't find better? Bonner is useless..

Even if there wasn't much out there, you can find better than those 2 at least
