You know what I think? Pop don't give a what you think.
Called the Sports Grind today asking why hasn't Kawhi seen the majority responsibility of guarding CP3?? I understand Red is a BIG part of what they do. I believe he is one of the best 1st Qrt scores this season....but CP3 makes that team go and they go as he goes...Game 3 he scored what 7 points? We win by 27. In the 2 victories they have this season he is averaging 33pts.
If Bruce Bowen was on this team he would with out question be on Paul every time he is on the court. Now I understand Bowen wasn't part of the Spurs offense like Kawhi is. But Kawhi is a MAX player and arguably one of the best if not the best 2 way player in the game...and he's 23. He should be on the court whenever Paul is on the court.
What do ya'll think?

Ok. Let CP3 shoot 60% from the field...and just hope you make shots on offense.
Not the point. DG is the better CP3 defender but it's up to Pop to assign him to CP3 on defense which for some reason he goes away from for stretches at a time.
thank god pop is in the helm and not you.
For the most part, the defensive plan against LA is a thumbs up. kawhi on JJ and Danny on Paul. Works great.
if you didn't watch the game, the 1-3 PnR forced Danny to guard Barnes or Crawford and leave Parker or Mills on Paul..That killed the team. They didn't adjust.
JJ is the guy that puts LA a top. You take him out, you take their game out..Kawhi is doing a great ob on him.
Mills and Parker are just huge defensive liabilities...The former makes it up with his offense though.
Danny Green can't guard Red ?? Cmon man Paul is the head of the snake. Hes's shooting 60%!!! Kawhi is the DPOY put him on their best player and make that work. This team goes as CP3 goes....and its clearly been the case this series..
Our best defender on CP3 in verde.
But nah it's cool....if ya'll want Paul to get wherever he wants on the court and just torch us ok fine....he will
number sure don't back that up.....
CP3 is sneaky good at getting cheap fouls, too. Pop doesn't want his best player in foul trouble.
Vanilla. Media Generated take. Mainstream. Average. Bland. 90's analysis.
What number is that?
The only issue I see with Kawhi covering CP3 is potential foul trouble.
Bruh, you do realize that we have no control over this, right?
Somebody just give me a reason why Kahwi shouldn't be guarding Paul?
Posts 10 and 13
Kawhi fans trying to defend him.....
It's not his fault...I put this more on Pop
Paul averaging 25pts shooting 60% series tied 2-2
wtf are you talking about? dg has always been a better pg defender. this isn't the lakers, kawhi cant just do what he wants. good gawd your an idiot.
1- Paul hasn't scored much on Green since game 1, not sure what people are watching
2- Most of Paul's points have been from switches vs. Duncan/Splitter/Diaw or 1 on 1 vs. Parker/Mills and any smaller defender..having Kawhi on him wouldn't change that
3- Can't waste Kawhi's energy on D when he's the only reliable offensive player on the team..it would be different if Tony Parker wasn't one of the worst starting PGs in the league
4- Bowen on Paul was a horrible idea in the 2008 series, fortunately Pop switched the matchups after the Spurs were down 0-2 and put Bowen on Stojakovic to shut him down(like he's doing with Kawhi on Re )
Shut up got
See post #20, line 2. Clinic, tbh
Looks like Pop is giving Paul a different look every time down the floor on defense. Sometimes its Tony, Leonard, and Green, and sometimes its Manu or Mills for limited minutes. Mixing it up kept him from getting it going in Games 2 and 3, but 4 is another story. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kawhi guard him more, but that's asking lot considering most here probably want Kawhi to shoot 30 times.
I suggest going here and applying for a position: https://careers-attcenter.icims.com/...un1offset=-300
then, you can network your way up to get w/in ear shot of pop. just ask him straight up and hopefully he engages you with a well thought out reason.
is this a futile exercise? probably. but, i mean ^
Malik and crew are 100% right in this thread.
And DPOY doesn't mean you are the best defensive option for every player. Big men usually win DPOY. Would you want them guarding Paul? Or Kawhi guarding Lamarcus Aldridge?
