Hes not as much athletic as he is just plain physically impressive
Good size, strong for his size, great speed for his size, wingspan & hands
To top it off he uses all of those very well which kinda gives the illusion of superb athletisicm

    Hes definitely not 3rd
Lebron, Westbrook, Blake, AD are easily better athletes
Prolly Deandre Jordan & Giannis too

    This simply is not true
The FG % doesnt factor in the WB simply takes horrible shots
Like shots that arent even makeable & that he shouldnt be taking
Its his fault but it drops his % quite a bit lower

He's not the most explosive player, but he's not lacking in athleticism.

this is a definition thing I guess when I think athleticism, I think an explosivephysical ability that others even if they know it's coming can't match, I think Lebron, Westbrook, I guess prime Wade and prime D Rose. Blake, DJ, Wilt, prime Kareem. It is not just explosive because Barkley was explosive but he wasn't athletic. As for Kiwi I can't think of anyone on the Spurs roster right now that is more athletic but that doesn't put him in top 10 NBA wide arena.

Westbrook shoots 56 and 47 % at the rim.
Kawhi shoots 66 and 60 % at the rim.

It has nothing to do with total fieldgoal %.

    you talking about?
Are you attempting to say WB doesnt take horrible shots at the rim?
Kawhi shoots a better % we all can read
But while FG% is a decent measure it is greatly skewed when a player takes either really easy or really hard shots & doesnt adequately reflect skill level
Deandre Jordan shot in 70% from the field but theyre almost ALL dunks
Nobody would say that hes better at it or even that much better at scoring at the rim than the rest of the league
Westbrook to his detrement & by his own commission takes that many bad shots from everywhere INCLUDING at the rim that a simple % isnt as comprehensive a stat as it usually is
EVERY OKC game is good for a goo 5-8 one foot in the paint , jump & try to score over a defender or 3 shots from WB
You wouldnt say the same about Kawhi
And even then im not sayin he isnt better, im sayin that his % being better mean hes "much better" as you put it

Yeah Simmons is in an early phase of falling in love with Leonard but he hasn't really gotten to know him fully or paid enough attention to him before more recently.

As far as vertical and speed/explosiveness, he's average. He dunks like Vince Carter at 36.

I honestly don't think he's all that athletic, tbh. His drive and determination is what makes him a beast.
I agree with Rob. He doesn't strike me as super athletic(for a professional athlete). I think it's kind of a good thing for him though because he's had to work hard and develop nuances to his game that most uber athletic dudes don't. Most players just rely on their athleticism and once that goes so does their productivity. This is a reason why I think if he stays healthy he can have a nice long career just like Tim has. Tim never relied on athleticism and that's why he's in his 18th year and going GOD mode in the POs.

I agree with the consensus here, he's has slightly above average athleticism, but no where in the top 20 in the league.

What he hasn't is length, work ethic, determination and one of the largest hands in the NBA. His vertical isn't really something to be impressed about.
