And I don't get his style of sitting players when a player starts to get hot.
Spurs were on a killer run about to blow the game open and make the Clippers fold. Pop starts hacking with key players Tony/Tim and Tim draws 3 which forces him to the bench. Clippers go on 30-12 run when hacking starts spanning the end of the 2nd and start of 3rd and Pop keeps on insisting on hacking in the midst of Jordan hitting FTs.
It has worked before but tonight it backfired and Pop needs to own it. Egg on his face.
And I don't get his style of sitting players when a player starts to get hot.
This si such a small part of the game though. YOu saw how dialed in the Clippers were. Cp3 missed a bunch of shots but still played with intensity. Pop can only do so much. He can't make Danny hot or Parker Young. This is a clippers win. NBD.
That's why not messing up the offensive rhythm is important. That rhythm helps players like DG get off.
He wants the credit for the win. Not the players... His ego is too big and he tries to outcoach himself
Hacking backfired, it's the truth
It is what it is, the spurs had a great run
This. It's like a player gets hot then Pop pulls them, if they're ting the bed they get more burn.
The spurs offense was rolling. The Clippers were having to rush back after misses then scrambling on D while the ball kept swinging. Hack-a always the clippers to set up on D among all the other negatives too.
Thats why they have so many passive euro players to just accept his bull
Why don't Ny assistants call him out on it?
He has this false mystique created by Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and to an extent Parker that says he's good at what he does. They don't speak up and seek recognition or the spotlight so he's willing to take it all.
Stephen Jackson and Dejuan Blair called his ass out and look where they're at now. got has the players and staff shook
Parker played almost the entire 3rd quarter, scored tons of dribbles....
He practiced that in the off season
Yep. Killed the run. Either that or we are old and he needed to slow it down so our guys could catch their breath....
Practice paid off! Best dribbler of the season!!
Someone told him he needed to work on his handles to be a better PG.. Guess he did.. He needs to teach Danny
Not just that. Took the crowd out of the game. I can understand if the Clippers had some offensive rhythm but they didn't. It typifies Pop. He plays to not lose instead of to win. We should have been going for the jugular instead we were hacking because he was afraid they would make a run.
Exactly. Go for the kill. Blow the damned doors off. Smh.
Not to mention In the 2nd half, when they fouled him 2 or 3 times, and it looked like pop didn't want them to. Then there was the golden opportunity to do so towards the end (blake score), and for some reason, decided not to. What a mess.
they are outplaying us in every position except SF from starters. As great as duncan has been playing, blake is having a better series, kawai is destroying barnes, red is playing better than green, jordan is dominating splitter and let's not even mention parker and paul comparison. For them to be outplaying us in 4 of 5 positions and all of these games are close is saying a lot. The only thing keeping us in it is that our bench is far superior to theirs
Good point. I don't know if Pop needs to change the starting lineup but something needs to change. Maybe TP and Splitter are getting closer to healthy.
Not sure what hacking had to do with us not making plays, missing shots and turning the ball over, but yeah, hacking backfired.
Somewhat true but not exactly. He doesn't preach nor employ hero ball. If one guy is taking over the game, he's likely to try to get others to pitch in. Sometimes that costs us games but the net effect is that other players become contributors. He doesn't personally want credit, he wants a better team. MJ isn't walking through that door and even in today's NBA he wouldn't be able to do it alone. You might win a game with a hero, but you'll not win a series.
