We all know the other thread was full of backhanded compliments. Thanks to my favorite athlete of all-time and the fiercest compe or this franchise has ever seen. His body has given out on him but he gave us all he had for 13 years. Truly going to be sad to see him hang them up. Hope Pop starts him and lets him give us all he has one more time tbh.

Here's to the third best Spur of all-time.

Forever underrated because his peak was during the raw numbers era and he sacrificed for the team to come off the bench, which was unheard of at the time, tbh..if his peak had coincided with the advanced metrics era, his impact would have resonated better with the casual fan and media that focuses on PPG, etc..

He's also the face of the Eurostep that has become the signature move in the NBA's transition game, along with one of the pioneers of flopping, which is also a huge part of the game..massive influence, tbh..

Manu: "Danny, you start, I'll come off the bench because it's better for the team"
Other players that won't be named: "I can't believe they keep leaving him open"

This. His impact goes way beyond the bean3r love for him, he would've been a game changer anywhere. As for that infamous quote, I had such a bad feeling when Toxie said it. When you're that close to completing the mission and assholes are looking out for their own, it usually doesn't end well.

Whats up with all these goodbye threads, people really think this is it for Manu and Tim? I really hope not, what a ty way to go out unless Spurs win. I hope both can stick around another year, I think they still got it in them.

I'd be shocked if Duncan retires, but I think Manu will, tbh..he doesn't look like he's playing with the same intensity that he's known for, probably the end of the line..

Such disrespect to Ice in this thread. Manu's pretty clearly ahead of every other Spurs player besides Duncan, Robinson, and Gervin though.

Yes, I also thought he was lacking something. Manu will never get the credit he deserves, so it's futile to try and explain it to others. There really has never been a more "team" oriented player in the history of the NBA. There is no statistic that gauges the "correct" basketball play, on offense or on defense. Manu has a -ton of wins in the regular season and the playoffs, he assisted with Duncan's career, which could arguably be one of the best of all time, and he is the most decorated player in the NBA, I think. Like duncan, you will never see another Manu, so it's bittersweet. His turnovers were infuriating at times, but were quickly erased when he would save the Spurs, and either way Pop never had to tell Manu to "turn up the intensity," or explain to him the concept of "loyalty." Dude is an all around great player, first ballot HOF'er, and consummate pro, and I hope he's not done.

Prime Ginobili is awe inspiring, ranks only behind Duncan, Robinson and Gervin in the Hall of greatest Spurs players.

ive noticed in these threads that very few spurs fans appreciate what manu did in '10 and '11, where he was pretty clearly the teams best player, with duncan really struggling without any help in the frontline and pieces of like bogans, rj, bonner and blair getting big minutes, and playing through injury (the broken nose against dallas in '10, the broken arm against memphis in '11) and making a huge difference for the team (dont forget, 2010 the spurs were struggling mightily until manu went on a tear and took them to the playoffs and avenged the 09 loss he couldnt play in; the 2011 spurs were the n°1 seed with manu as their best player, I still think had he played game 1 in 2011 we beat the grizzlies).

I got one of those as well, will probably break it out. I have him, D Robs, Timmays and an old Elliott one I got for cheap later but the Manu one is probably my fave.

George Gervin did it too, it was during the ´46 season he played with a broken rib, broken nostril, broken armpit and pit
Rob and Duncan were/are bigs they never had the court vision or the speed, the passing Manu had and 50 more things but we´ve got to respect Shorge.
