All right about the Asia side of the deal, but basketball wise, this could be horrible considering he is a worst turnover machine than 38 y/o Manu.

Let's dig Andres Nocioni from his grave if Manu retires. We need another Argentine, tbh.

In all seriousness, Jeremy Lin would be a smart addition to the team on many levels. Most significantly, Asia is currently a very under-represented region on the Spurs roster. You have Australia, South America, Europe, and North America, but no Asian players. Add Lin to that roster and we are legitimately the UN of basketball.

No way he leaves Miami unless he's guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup, and we know Pop won't do that.. Would be nice though, him in the starting lineup and Parker a 6th man
I know. Nobody would better fill that Manu void besides Dragic. Now that it's a long offseason, time to start digging on team-by-team payrolls to see likely FA outcomes.

Unfortunately, the draft thins out substantially after the top 5-6 guys, so attaching Splitter with the 26th pick wouldn't move the Spurs up enough if there is a guy they really wanted. Only way I trade Splitter is if I KNOW Aldridge is joining. Gasol I've written off at this point.

Lin doesn't help with that "UN" status as (1) he's American and played HS/college ball here and (2) Taiwan isn't recognized by the UN (not that I agree with that, just a fact).
I heard that Haddadi guy needs a team too. Add Casspi too and we might solve the Israel/Iran issue.

    Why the hate?

You don't see the hilarity that would ensue if we rolled out a lineup comprised of Lin, Mills, Bellini, Diaw, and Splitter?

Parker is not going anywhere. We've already established this. His contract is untradeable, and PATFO are loyal to a fault anyways. It comes with the whole "family" culture the Spurs have built over the years.

It all hinges on Danny and Tim. If one or both don't return, it won't really matter what the Spurs do. They won't be legitimate contenders. If Timmy leaves, then we'll be left fighting for the 5-8 seeds in the West, aka NBA purgatory, worst spot you can be in.

we get aldridge or gasol and we immediately contenders again. we just need to put in the effort to get that #1 banana imo

Manu needs to retire. I agree we are stuck with Porker so we need a SG stud that can create playes IMO

Unfortunately, guys like that don't grow on trees. Probably no one out there that can replace him.
There is no one in the league that is available right now that has the unique ability of shooting, passing and a BB IQ for playmaking that Manu had.

The list is very short--Curry, Irving, Wall---and teams that have those kinds of players almost never trade them voluntarily. Finding another Manu in the draft, considering where we pick every year, is like trying to catch lightning in a bucket.

I brought up Linsanity months ago too. He does bring some playmaking to the table and plays the right way, if we can get him for cheap I agree that he would be a decent back-up. Replace Manu, Belli and CoJo with Afflalo and Linsanity imo.

Manu will be back for one more season from what I've heard, and I rather have him than Jeremy ing Lin

We do need to find a shot creator or something that can create his own shot.

Think Spurs are going shooting guard in the draft.

Manu needs to come back. He should not just disappear unannounced on a whim.

He should state that next year will be his last year then let it play out in an orderly fashion.

He deserves no less and his fans deserve no less.

I think Manu comes back. Aren't him, Tim and Tony like 4 shorts win of the all-time record for a trio?
