That at El Chivito as hot as everyone claims? I have never known chile de arbol to be overly hot. I use that all the time with some onion, garlic, salt, and water to make salsa for carnitas, pretty good salsa when you roast everything first, blend, and then strain that out.

It is pretty hot actually and I'm no pussy with chile. Keep in mind you are showering your whole torta (meat and birote) with it. They give you a big ass bag of it. I think they have a milder version too but not sure what that is made out of tbh.

True, I'm not a big fan of burritos to begin with, but a good ranchero salsa can really make an otherwise bland burrito. Never had a salsa from Chipotle that wasn't complete though.

Went and tried El Chivito today. I actually went to another torta ahogada joint called Ro-Ho Pork & Bread first and they were ing sold out. But I thought El Chivito was pretty badass, loved the bread and carnitas. I guess because I'm white the guy looked at me like I was nuts when I ordered the extra hot. It was hot but not overly so even with the whole bag dumped on the bread and the insides. Good barbacoa too. I'll definitely be back there, though I'll still try Ro-Ho Pork sometime too, I'll just make sure to phone the order in next time.
