yeah, i can buy that there are a lot more "out of shape" athletes in basketball/football than in futbol.

but i do think the best of the best athletes will be in the first two

Maybe the most athletic NFL player is more athletic than the most athletic soccer player, maybe I don't know. But what I do know for sure is that if you make a compe ion of athletic traits between all NFL players and all soccer players the soccer players would win in a landslide.
Of course, we're talking different types of "athleticism". Take a rookie NFL guy like Dante Fowler, who is a 6'3" 261 lb. defensive wrecking machine and compare him to a first-year soccer player on a top Euro team. Fowler has a huge advantage in size, strength, and explosiveness, but he would run out of breath and collapse if he had to chase the soccer player continually around the field for 90 minutes. The soccer player's superior agility and endurance would leave the NFL guy in the dust, gasping for air.

    BTW...yes, Messi is awesome.

You actually have to pretty elite athletically to play on the O-Line in the pros. The endurance level that men with frames that size have is impressive as well. As spurraider said, it's a different type of athleticism...but not any less elite.

Take a guy like Duane Brown. The combination of quickness and strength he possesses at 6'4, 300lbs is something only a small percentage of people in the world that are his size have.

This is precisely what I was referring to in regards to what is a "True Athlete". You have guys playing the O-Line that are freaks. Even Tyron Smith from the Cowboys, or even a less physically chiseled physique like Jason Peters and Joe Thomas. Just because they can't run 100 miles non stop doesn't mean they're not athletic. The larger the man, the less respect he receives from Futbol enthusiasts and that's ignorant. And there's a big difference between Football big and Baseball big and they seem to equate the two.

C'mon now, the one that started all this is you with your remark about soccer not being "athletic". Laughing at the idea of soccer being "athletic" when pretty much the entire World (even the folks that don't like soccer) agrees that is one of the most demanding sports in terms of athleticism, that's is my idea of "ignorant", tbh.

Never said they weren't athletes. I said in comparison to other major sports such as basketball (which you conceded to) and football (which you haven't but it doesn't matter), soccer isn't on the same level. Never said they were NOT athletic. You just got sore about it, and I can understand why if you're a Futbol enthusiast, and that's OK, love your sport to the death bro.

Americans are probably the only ones in the world that think American Football>football in terms of athletic ability, that being said, they're somewhat right. There's different things attributed to athletic ability. In terms of Power, Length, no doubt A. Football is more athletic. Endurance, agility and speed...American football is not even close to Football

Soccer is complex sport though. It's never just about athletic ability that's why it's impossible to be a pro player in soccer if you didn't play the game from age 7.

    Power Griderion
    Strength Griderion
    Explosivness football
    Speed Football
    Endurance Football
    Stamina Football
    Skill...Not even close.
