No. Thibs can't hold a candle to Gentry.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gentry, but the Pelicans need a defensive-minded coach that can enforce discipline on their more re ed players (Evans, Gordon).

Look at the 2014/15 Warriors and the 2009/2010 Suns.

I can't tell a difference between Monty and Alvin. They both look the same and coach the same. Should never fire a black coach just to hire another.

Do we overlook his other 3 years with the Suns?

He was great his entire time with the Suns. He took them to the WCF and then Sarver broke up the team and signed Childress, Turkoglu etc.

Gentry was a good coach. You think D'Antoni would have stuck with Dragic the entire fourth quarter when Goran went off for 25+?

I'll take your word for it. I'm just saying, good coaches normally overachieve, even when they don't have a stacked team... they don't miss the playoffs...

There's a distinct pattern with those two seasons, that's why I singled those out.

    Gentry is a good HC.

A lot better than Williams for sure.

I think he deserves some credit for his work with GSW this year as an assistant. The system GSW plays with now is part due to gentry.

What? Did you have to write this nonsense for the sole reason to throw the beaten to death black coach schtick?

He only actually head coached one of them. I mean, I like the guy, I think he's capable, but he's been a head coach for 12 seasons in the NBA, and that one season with the Suns is really all he has to show for it (I'm not gonna count the 1st round exit with the Pistons as successful).
