I agree - LA is going to suck next year even if they land LA. They aren't a playoff team. They need one more solid draft pick assuming they don't mess this one up.

Who do you think LA could target for their pick in a trade? I think the days of LA doing stuff like that (with Free Agents turning them down) are over. I think they keep the pick. They have to adapt.
Its too early. The dust has to settle and the summer needs to be long. I know for a fact that there are other GM's that covet those two stiffs coming out this year. We have to see who's desperate.

What about Ty Lawson + Denver's 7th pick for the 2nd pick.

Ty doesn't impress me. I'd just grab the kid from Ohio who is a much better passer. With the salary cap increasing and the big names becoming FA's there will be some major wheeling and dealing. This is where you show some savvy.

Since we're all pipe dreaming... I make a push for La Marcus... let Kobe retire and go all in for Durant next year. I don't give a about being a playoff team. I don't relate to you guys at all. If I'm not a contender then its a waste of time.
Kobe is not retiring...he done already said so....I gotta ride with my till the end....I couldn't talk all this without him....he has carte blanch

Picking 1 is nice but we save $500k in cap room picking at 2. That's an additional $3 million in a 4-year deal.

I have serious concerns about Dangelo Russell's athleticism at the NBA level. He had trouble in college against athletic defenders. I see Russell's lack of athleticism more of a concern than Okafor's defensive short comings. Will be interesting to see how their workouts go and how Mitch/Jim perceive them.

Kobe ain't got no time for rebuilding imho. The Lakers are Kobe's team and they ain't nothing without him, so they gotta do their best to acquire some instant power and enable Kobe to make another championship run before retiring, tbh.

I'm most interested to see how FA goes for LA. This is uncharted territory with their franchise being a joke at the moment and FA's turning down more money to play elsewhere. Will that trend continue? Will they land the biggest stars since they have the most money?

If they come away with someone like Rondo or Greg Monroe, will that be the final nail in the coffin?

Jeanie Buss: 2015-16 Lakers Season Will Be ‘Celebration’ Of Kobe Bryant

Kobe's still a very good player...as long as he's at the 10 mill a yr range I have no qualms at all about keeping him giving what he can bring to the table..granted he stays healthy...sure he had a bad run of the injury bad luck but it happens....the Cap is going up next year and it should be no sweat off our backs to keep him. At the wing position it should be his until someone can prove they can take it or he decides to walk away...that is the spirit with which he's always played...if you're good enough to take his spot then prove it...in all honesty that's the only way these young guys are going to learn to play with fire while playing in LA...Kobe has always said this is Hollywood but that's not how we play and that has to be taught.....having Kobe on the team and leading and playing well is our only option to develop these guys....and if we're going to trade the young players then you'd certainly want to keep Kobe to play with whatever vets you bring in... Boston did it effectively and so did Miami in a sense....

Until I see Kobe completely faltering out there I'm still on board...the injuries I can live with as long as it's no more career or major injuries...the last injury he could have played with...he was just helping us tank....Kobe still poses a match up problem for the opposing 2 guards in the league....as long as we're no longer playing ISO ball then we need him....

as far as basketball goes, kobe basically has retired... he's played 41 out of 164 games in the last 2 years and hasn't made a playoff appearance since 2012

but he keeps gettin them checks and holding the team back as a result

He's faltering. The Lakers were like 20 points better when he was on the bench. He can't play defense anymore.

He ain't getting 6. Gonna finish his career in the lottery.

Kool... you can't give someone a going away present then expect them to stick around. Its a new era... and father time is forcing Kobe out of the game.

I would much rather see Kobe go to a contending team and chase 6 than to see LA sacrifice our future trying to surround talent around him.

You should know better as a Cleveland Browns/Indians fan that nothing is EVER in the case until the clock reads 0:00 or the last out is recorded.

I get that this is a shtick, but you've been watching sports long enough to know that anything can happen in those last moments.

I agree but if he's playing well and feeling good...he will stay and Jeannie will LOVE him for it...don't forget how much she's infatuated over that ..all of her passwords to everything she owns has a form of Kobe's name in it...her own words....dude musta been secretly er her down... but seriously he stays if nothing more than the attraction that brings high rollers to games paying for those expensive seats...It's business...everyone will pay to see him chase 6.
