I see - it only matters when the Spurs lose in the first round.
    & when it's compulsory that you win your 5th a 2nd time.

If you are asking if I think LA gets a top 5 free agent (which in the past would have been guaranteed if they had the same money as everyone else), then yes, I think they will be spurned.

Even with the most money (lost Dwight and Pau with that) because of Kobe, poor leadership and very little talent to build around (the 2nd pick may help some, but it's still pretty bare in the talent department) I think you don't see a top 5 FA come to LA which is unheard of before.

So no Aldridge, Gasol, Lebron, Jimmy Butler, or Kawhi. You may get a secondary guy like Rondo, Monroe or Lopez, but long gone are the days of LA getting the best of the best. Players used to align their contracts to match up with LA being able to offer them money, now they have no shot at landing a star in the top 5.
Fair take, although LBJ and KL are unrealistic to even fathom. No way either leaves. Gasol is a possibility if we give him the max. I'm lukewarm on Butler - although there are rumors of LA throwing him the max. Add that to Thibbs rumor...

MVPau would have stayed for the right amount of $$$. The ship was sinking, the money offered wasn't all that, and Chicago was a better option for him.

Again, I believe we have the opportunity to take steps towards building a nice team starting this offseason. I'll be interested to see what MK does tbh.

Missing two playoffs is better than losing in the finals?
After you already won that Finals, absolutely.
You said missing the playoffs is better than losing in the Finals as long as you won a ring the year prior, so is missing the playoffs better than losing in the 1st round if the 1st round loser won a ring in the year prior as well? What about if the ring winner from the previous season lost in the Finals, is that better than missing the playoffs as a ring winner?

You're standards are sloppy, Dale, and that's the name of that tune.
No. That ain't what I said.

Dale getting his obtuse on. Must be another "joke" like the "gonna be a problem" debacle.

The way Lakers fans have treated Pau I'd be shocked if little bro came aboard. If Kobe retires, you'll have to hire a doorman.

No. Either you can't figure out what I said, or, you're being purposely contrary.

I'll make it plain:::I'd choose missing the playoffs for two years if the alternative is losing a Finals after I'd already won it like you did in '13.

    facepalm

Spoken like a ing loser. No conversation ever should start with "I'd choose missing the playoffs". You're a ing Lakers fan....nut up son. You've got history...this is something a Toronto Raptors fan would say.

You'll need a GPS soon to find your way back to the reservation.

You'll take whatever gets you there.

    Or a Suns fan

    Dale's convoluted, self serving logic:

Russ Westbrook is a winner though he's not in the playoffs and has never won anything
James Harden is a loser though he's still playing and like RW, hasn't won anything either

Tanking is for pussies and assholes
It's better to miss the playoffs than to make it to game 7 of the Finals just to lose

Caveat Dale is the epitome of conditional reasoning and obtuse proclamations that he can manipulate later to make it appear as if he stayed in his lane the entire time.

It's an easy tactic, just do the following:

    1. Set an arbitrary personal standard and repeat it ad nasuem
    2. Violate the standard
    3. Use a technicality to steer clear of the fallout
    4. If all else fails, claim it was a joke
    5. Don't be around when you have no recourse
    6. Come around later and claim to have been there the entire time
    7. Use the technicality of "lurking" to support your claim when no evidence can be presented to support your case

    Caveat Dale 101

Cubby is good people....and I enjoy a lot of his back and forth with Spurs fans. He gets under people's skin and that's always alright with me...

But just like I told him yesterday...he's dead wrong on this one. The Spurs blew it in '13. Absolutely blew it. But being 20 seconds away from a ring is 10000x better than missing the playoffs. And anybody who actually believes that logic is sorely mistaken. It reminds me of the Bills losing 4 straight Super Bowls. People always see that as a "failure"...even though they had 4 straight seasons better than 99% of the NFL. Sure, they didn't get it done...and they don't have a "Redemption" story like the Spurs do...but they won a -load of games those 4 years. They were a damn good football team...and nobody can take that away from them.

Why compare two years to one year?

It should be you'd rather miss two consecutive playoffs than to come close in one year and win it all next year.

    You are a certified idiot.

No. I had only the two choices from the original manifest. Miss two playoffs, or, lose the '13 Finals. No in' way am I taking the '13 Finals, only to have them come in there 30 seconds later and take it back. No.

The laker way is go for a championship. So As a laker fan I would rather choose to lose in the finals than miss the playoffs.

Why? The only thing that matters is to win the last game in the playoffs.

Neither of the options involved winning the last game in the playoffs so why would one version be preferable over the other? Not to mention the one you chose meant failing twice.
