Also, to clarify, I played soccer, not basketball - but everyone already knew that. Point is, playing sports at a high level gives you insight into certain things that you cannnot understand unless you have played sports (which you haven't).

I am not a real big one on one fan, and that's why I had issues with VORP, which was essentially saying the value over an average bum, but that is difficult to quantify, and depends on the quality of the position (I mean, a replacement center in the 90s is way better than those today, and a replacement level SF today is much better than one in the 80s).

I think there are other factors in play, such as the Lakers being smart enough to go through Shaq or MVPau because that's where the efficiency comes from. I can't really explain the Olympics though.

Randle is a natural power forward, but has the ball-handling skills of a wing player leading some to wonder if he could play the small forward position as well. According to Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers could be willing to try Randle at the position in the future, but not right now:
