It's 1936, Jesse Owens has just ran a 10.3 100m to win the Olympics gold medal.
If asked back in 1936 just how fast can a human being run science will use 10.3 as the starting point. They will take into consideration how the event has progressed over the last 50 years and try to project the next 50 and then get some sort of average per 25 years. But, there is no system, no playing with numbers that will give them......9.58. Ya see back then there were no 6-5 sprinters with 45.2 400m ability. That 400m ability giving any 100m sprinter a whole other level of speed endurance, which is the key to 100m sprinting. Usain Bolt has a stride unlike any other 100m sprinter.
Science would come up with about 9.8. Which is way off.
Science can never see those outliers, the exceptions to the rules. Something we see all the time.
Franco Columbo the former Mr.Olympia would be considered obese on any of those height/weight charts. You see science can only deal with the normal. They can't predict the abnormal. Calvin Johnson is abnormal, Shaq, and it goes on and on.
Science is simply too limited.
